Throughout Venezuela, there is a plaza that pays tribute to a historical figure who significantly contributed to the independence from the Spanish Empire, which once owned nearly all of what is now known as Latin America.

This figure is Simón Bolívar, a politician whom many regard as a national hero. While others do not question his honor, they are not as concerned with it.

I am one of those who believe it is time to look towards the present and the future and stop idolizing individuals.

This does not mean I do not acknowledge his value and contribution.

In fact, the best way to do so is by improving the country and making it a reference for the world beyond corruption, poverty, and inequality.

Venezuela is more than Bolívar, its landscapes, its beautiful women, and any stereotypes many Venezuelans themselves speak of.

En toda Venezuela hay una plaza que rinde tributo a personaje de la historia que ayudó considerablemente a la independencia del entonces imperio español, que era dueño de casi todo lo que hoy se conoce como Latinoamérica.

Se trata de Simón Bolívar, un político que para muchos es un héroe nacional, y otros no cuestionan su honor, pero no les importa tanto.

Yo soy de los que cree que es momento de mirar hacia el presente y el futuro, y dejar de idolatrar a personas.

Esto no quiere decir que no reconozca su valor y su aporte.

De hecho, la mejor forma de hacerlo es logrando que el país mejore y se convierta en una referencia para el mundo más allá de la corrupción, la pobreza y desigualdad.

Venezuela es más que Bolívar, sus paisajes, sus mujeres hermosas, y cualquier estereotipo que dicen los mismos venezolanos.
