Cloud the Boss Slayer

When i was trying to decide what to draw for the final zealy drawing quest... I had no idea what to do. The challenge was to draw a boss slyer lion, which sounds great... but it took me a while to decide. When I think of a boss slayer, I think back to the old days of playing Final Fantasy 7.

So I decided to turn Cloud, the main character, into a bad ass lion boss slayer. This is all pencil on Krita, using a stylus.

First I started with an outline of the body, but couldn't really decide what I wanted the head to look like so I left it out initially.

From here, I started adding small details and then started on the head. Keep in mind - I was looking at a still from playstation 1 graphics.

Once I started drawing the head, I could see it coming together. It was time to start doing some basic shading to give some depth.

Next, I started shading the rest and added more hair to the mane to match Cloud's wild spikey hair.

A little more shading and a lot of small details later... we have the final product! Cloud the boss slayer lion.

I had a lot of fun with this one. I also used multiple layers instead of just one this time, which made it easier to manage. It's not perfect, but it's my take on a boss slayer. I can just hear the victory jingle in the background. He's doing his victory stance!
