Visit Wat Sunthararam (temple), Fang District, Chiang Mai Province Thailand.
Hello everyone. Today I want to share and take everyone to see another temple in the district where I live. This temple is called Wat Sunthararam or local people call this temple : Wat Huai Ngu Klang.
History and information of Wat Sunthararam. Wat Sunthararam was built and received permission to establish a temple about 102 years ago or built in the year A.D. 1921 by monks and local villagers.
And in year AD 1969 or 54 years ago, the temple received a royal granting of the land to a particular temple by announcing in royal decree.
Wat Sunthararam is located in Huai Ngu Klang Village or Ban Huai Ngu Klang, San Sai Subdistrict, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province. The temple is on a rural road.
Traveling to the temple, you have to traveling on the Chiang Mai - Fang highway. And traveling onto the rural road in San Sai Subdistrict, San Sai Village, Huai Ngu Nok Village until Huai Ngu Klang Village and this temple.
Take a look, some atmosphere of the rural road in San Sai Subdistrict before reaching this temple.
Me and my wife went to this temple, just the 2 of us. When we arrived at the temple. Area front of the temple there is a mini garden with a snake statue and two chicken statues.
This temple has a large entrance arch. This arch is made of bricks plastered with cement, decorated with Lanna style stucco patterns. And on the pillars of the wall under the arch are two statues of lions.
In addition in front of the temple, area this entrance arch are two giant statues and a name tag of the temple made of cement.
When we entered the temple. We see 4 architectures in this temple. The first architecture was a pavilion. This pavilion is built like a buddha image hall (viharn) or ordination hall (ubosot). This large pavilion is made of bricks plastered with cement. The front is painted brown like wood and the sides are painted white. And the top edge of the front roof is decorated with buddhist stucco patterns. Area the entrance to the pavilion there is a statue of goddess of mercy (Quan Yin). And in front of the pavilion there are two statues of monks.
The second architecture of the temple : buddha image hall (viharn). This buddha image hall (viharn) is built from bricks plastered with cement. The buddha image hall (viharn), edges of doors and windows are decorated with stucco designs of gold color, red, green, blue and white. And buddhist stucco patterns on the wall above the doors.
Additionally, on the railing of the stairs at the entrance to the buddha image hall (viharn) were two statues of light blue serpents. The light blue color of the two serpent statues is different than the serpent statues of other temples. And there is also a gold color standing buddha image area the stairs to the entrance to the buddha image hall (viharn) too.
Third architecture : ordination hall (ubosot). This ordination hall (ubosot) is also made of bricks plastered with white cement, decorated with gold color, red, green, blue stucco patterns and buddhist patterns. And the railing of the entrance to the ordination hall (ubosot) has two gold color serpent statues.
Fourth architecture : pagoda. A polyhedral-shaped gold color pagoda with a bell-shaped top. The foundation of the pagoda is a large white square room. And the entrance to the rectangular room has a white entrance arch too.
Behind the ordination hall (ubosot) is a building for monks and the monk's houses.
Finally, I’ll go on to share about the overall atmosphere inside the temple is a garden with trees and flowers.
