Visit Wat San Ton Doo, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand.
Hello everyone. Today I will take everyone to see the temple in the district where I live. This temple is called Wat San Ton Doo. Several days ago me and my wife had the opportunity to drive around on a rural road in San Sai Subdistrict. We had not planned any rural road travel that day. We see Wat San Ton Du by accident while driving around this subdistrict and we definitely wanted to visit this temple. We have never been to and do not know this temple. And we never knew that there is a temple in this area. So our visit to this temple felt like a new experience and challenge. Although this temple is a small temple. When I got home. I immediately searched for information about this temple online.
Brief information about Wat San Ton Doo : Wat San Ton Doo's original name was Wat Hua Dong Chai. This temple was built in year A.D. 1937 or about 86 years ago. And the temple received royal granting of the land to a particular temple by announcing in royal decree on 5 December 1994 or about 29 years ago.
This temple is a small temple in a rural community. This temple has an area of approximately 5,200 square meters. The temple is located in San Ton Doo Village, San Sai Subdistrict, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province. Even though the temple is located in the village. But in some parts of the temple area, we can still see farms in the village.
The atmosphere in front of the temple.
The front area has a name plate of the temple. The name plate of this temple, the edge of the name plate is made of brick and plastered with cement, painted white.
This temple has a large entrance arch. The entrance arch is made of wood in the Lanna or Northern Thai style. And I think this entrance arch clearly shows the uniqueness of northern Thailand.
Additionally, on the cement foundation of the entrance arch were two gold color elephant statues. I think the two gold color elephant statues look like golden elephants.
Area front of the temple there are also two white lion statues decorated with gold color patterns. The two lion statues stand between the entrance arch.
Interestingness about this temple. When entering the temple, you will see a small pavilion behind the arch. Inside the small pavilion are many statues of deities and buddha image.
The buddha image hall (viharn) of this temple. Even though the buddha image hall (viharn) looks old, the buddha image hall (viharn) looks beautiful. This buddha image hall (viharn) is made of bricks plastered with cement and painted white. The construction and decoration of the buddha image hall (viharn) with stucco patterns is in the Lanna style and has a clear Lanna identity. And on the railing of the stairs at the entrance to the buddha image hall (viharn) are two serpent statues.
This temple does not have a ordination hall (ubosot) but has a pagoda. The temple's pagoda is simply built. This pagoda is made of bricks plastered with cement and painted white. And there is a gold color buddha image in the center of the pagoda on all 4 sides.
Other buildings in the temple include a large pavilion and the monks' houses.
The atmosphere inside the temple looks quiet and shady with many trees and adeniums.
These are the stories and photos of Wat San Ton Doo I want to share for this post. Invite everyone to watch and enjoy my stories and photos. Have a great day. See you next time. Thank you for your support and visiting my post. Bye 🤗
