Trip to temple and wet market in the city center, Chiang Rai, Thailand : Wat Mung Muang and Wet Market (Municipal 1).
Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. This post, I will take friends to Chiang Rai Province. Visit a temple and a wet market. Last month my wife and I traveled in Chiang Rai province. On that trip we had the opportunity to go to Wat Mung Muang. A small temple located in the city center of the province.
Brief information about Wat Mung Muang. Wat Mung Mueang is an old common monastery built in AD 1839 or 185 years ago. And the temple received royal granting of the land to a particular temple by announcing in royal decree 2 times. The first time was in AD 1866 or 158 years ago. The second time was in AD 2004 or 20 years ago.
The temple sign is made of wood on the wall.
Sacred architecture in the temple.
First architecture : buddha image hall (viharn).
The buddha image hall (viharn) is made of bricks plastered with cement and painted white. The front area, windows and doors of the buddha image hall (viharn) are decorated with gold color stucco patterns in the Lanna art style. And there is a serpent staircase at the front entrance of the buddha image hall (viharn). This serpent staircase is different from other temples because there are four 3-headed serpent statues.
The inside of the buddha image hall (viharn) is decorated with Lanna style symbols. Which looks beautiful and unique in the northern of Thailand.
The main buddha statue and other buddha statues in the buddha image hall (viharn) are beautiful buddha statues in the attitude of subduing mara. These buddha statues sit on a foundation and have a beautiful arch on top.
Second architecture : pagoda.
The beautiful pagoda is tall and large. This pagoda is a polygonal gold color pagoda made in the Lanna art style. From the information, under this pagoda there are relics of the Lord buddha too.
Additionally, on the temple's outdoor courtyard there is a bell tower and a large statue of a monk.
When we go out the temple. We will see a wet market. Which is a wet market that looks clean. This wet market is municipal 1 wet market. There are many ingredients and foods for sale here. But we focus on the many small restaurants in wet markets. Because we were hungry and wanted to eat lunch before going home. Take a look at some of the atmosphere at the wet market and our lunch that day.
These are the stories and photos I want to share for this post. Invite everyone to see and enjoy my stories and photos. Have a great day. See you next time. Thank you for your support and visiting my post. Bye 🤗

Yes, I thought so too. Thank you, have a great day.
Would love to visit Chiengrai one day. A very small town far away in the north. The market is very big for a small town!
