Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. In this post, I take everyone to see a sacred place and a place of respect for people in my district. This sacred place is the city pillar shrine of this district.
Fang District, Chiang Mai Province is a rural district in the northern of the province. This district used to be the location of an ancient city (approximately 1300 years old). This ancient city is Fang City. Same name as Fang District in present.
Although this district used to be the location of an ancient city. But the city pillar shrine of this district was just built in AD 1877 or 147 years ago.

Beliefs about the city pillar shrine in Thailand date from the Sukhothai period to the Rattanakosin period. According to ancient Thai tradition. Believed that if a city is built, before building the city a ceremony must be done to build the city pillar first. To the prosperity of that city. So many places in Thailand have the city pillar shrines.

The city pillar shrine of Fang District is located in the district's urban area. The city pillar shrine in this district is a small place with three wooden pavilions.

The first wooden pavilion was a shrine, which was the home of sacred things in this city pillar shrine. This pavilion is on the right.

The second wooden pavilion, the pavilion in the middle. The city pillar is in this wooden pavilion.

The third wooden pavilion. This pavilion is on the left. And this pavilion is the shrine of the ancient city governor in the past (Fang City).

There are also many animal statues area the city pillar shrine. These animal statues are statues for worship at this city pillar shrine.
