The Stranger On My CL... Who Is He???

As funny as this may actually sound, I met a stranger on my contact list.
I don't know just how that came to be but here is our story
One beautiful evening, while going through my contact list, I discovered a name that didn't sound very familiar to me yet was saved on my phone
I was just randomly going through my contacts to see the people I have there, you could say I was bored and trying to get myself occupied with something and so the mission of scrolling through my contact list.
And just while I was scrolling, for some reason my mind suddenly took me back to one mister I met some years back in a museum who asked for my contact which I bluntly refused, but instead got his since he kept insisting.
I remember not having any form of interest in the conversation yet I was trying not to be rude at the time so I let him talk even when it was disturbing my peace, and after a while he finally requested for my contact that day which I told him I wouldn't give it out so he left his with me instead.

I have no idea why but when I bumped into this strange number on my phone, I could have sworn with everything in me that it was that mister I met some years ago.
So in a bid to feed my curiosity, I sent a message to this contact.
Politely asking and requesting to know who it was. I know this was wrong. I mean messaging a strange number and starting with questioning the person.
I would have found that disturbing and annoying too if I was in that shoe but then again, I had to so I summed up the courage message regardless.
At first the conversation seemed to be leading nowhere but I kept pushing it cause I felt it was quite strange to have a strange contact on my list that I knew nothing about and to my greatest disappointment, it wasn't actually who I thought it was.
Well, to be honest I wouldn't call it a disappointment cause I mean, I really didn't want to have anything to do with that mister in person, I was only trying to be sure if that was his contact.

With my persuading approach, one could think I was tying to look for a lost friend, lover or something. I feel the guy on the other end might have find it strange too, although he kept calm but almost being a little hard too.
When he gave me the I am not the person you are looking for response, that was when it dawn on me that I've messed up.
So many thoughts ran through my mind, why did I have to do that? Why go to such length to disgrace myself with a stranger?
I could have just ignored that contact or better still deleted it if I didn't have any idea who it was but I kept insisting and pushing to find out who it was, seeing where it landed me, I felt sorry for myself to an extent.
Whereas on the other hand too, another thing said to me, oh well, you've fed your curiosity, it wasn't who you thought it was, and you should be glad.
Now would you let it slide? Would you let this strange saved contact on your phone have a wrong impression about you?
Well you shouldn't care, he is just a stranger, you should leave it at that, or would you still continue talking to him?
And boom! That was when I requested that my contact be saved. With the thought that I could discover overtime who he actually is and why I had his contact saved on my phone when it was obvious we haven't met before from the photo he shared.
And that is how this stranger guy left me on read till when next we communicated again, lol.
