NATIVITY OF CHRISTMAS CATHEDRAL 🤍💚❤️

Hello friends on the hive, I hope you are all well. Today I decided to tell you about our family walk that I and my family decided to take to the town of Shipka. In this post I will show you and tell you a little about the incredibly beautiful Nativity of Christ church in Shipka. I have been wanting to visit this temple for a long time, but I kept running out of time, and I am very grateful that this past weekend I was finally able to do it

Already early in the morning, we all quickly got ready for the road and left. Luckily it wasn't hot at all and we were able to enjoy the long drive. We left Veliko Tarnovo via Gabrovo to reach the town of Shipka, which is about 100 km. or 1 hour and a half by car. On the way we enjoyed the uniquely beautiful nature of Bulgaria.

The road by car is not that long, but I, as a driver, had to be extremely careful all the time because the road was full of many turns, some of which were extremely sharp and dangerous. And finally, after the long drive, we finally reached the town of Shipka and all we had to do was follow the signs to get to the church. When we opened the church we had a little problem how to park in the shade because there were many visitors including busloads of students.

As soon as I found a parking space I started taking photo after photo. I was just amazed by the great architecture of the temple, how big and majestic it looked. The Church of the Nativity is actually a monastery church, a cultural monument. The construction of the temple began in 1885. and graduated in 1902. with funds collected from donations from the Russian side and from the Bulgarian side.

The temple is dedicated to the heroes of the Russian-Turkish war of liberation in 1877-1878. In the basement of the temple, the bones and remains of Russian and Bulgarian soldiers who died for the freedom of Bulgaria are kept. The temple was solemnly opened on September 27, 1902.
The building was built in the style of Russian churches through the 17th century. A huge bell tower with four small gilded domes and crosses.

On the walls of the temple from the outside you can see many inscriptions in Russian, and on the walls from the inside are written the names of the soldiers and militiamen who died for the freedom of Bulgaria. I could not photograph the beautiful icon paintings from the inside because photography is prohibited, but I want to tell you that the inside is no less intriguing and beautiful.
