Most memorable gift

Greetings!

When it comes to receiving gifts, I’ve received quite a lot, and at some point, I concluded that my life must have been designed with a magnetic force that attracts people to gift me items, especially clothing. Out of all the gifts, the one that stands out the most is the one that happened in a very unique way and from a person I never expected. I’ve told this story many times, and I’m going to say it again.

In the firm where I last worked as an employed staff, the CEO, a high-ranking official in my state government, occupying a significant position in the government house, was the person who gifted me a set of clothes: a navy blue trouser, a pink shirt, and a black bow tie. This man doesn’t live in the city where the firm is; he lives in the state capital and visits us once in a while. Whenever he comes around, he attends the same church where I fellowship.

One weekend, he came to town and attended church that Sunday. As an usher (yes, I’m an usher), I’m supposed to dress completely in formal attire, but that day, I decided not to wear a tie. As a result, I was queried by the head of the ushering unit. The CEO was in church that day, and I saw him, and he saw me too.

About two weeks after that visit, he came again, but this time with the set of clothes I mentioned: a navy blue trouser, a pink long-sleeve shirt, and a bow tie. According to him, he didn’t like the way I was dressed that Sunday without a tie. I was dumbfounded because, hey, I have a lot of ties—both long and bow ties—and I didn’t wear one that day not because I didn’t have any, but simply because I decided not to. Maybe once in a while, I should adopt that style more often to attract more gifts! Lol.

I was so emotional because I never thought I’d receive such a gift from a man who sometimes behaves like he doesn’t care about people. Yes, that’s how he behaves sometimes... CEOs are known for that.
My colleagues at the office were all surprised that day, and one in particular started attaching superstition to it, saying maybe he gave me those clothes to "collect my destiny." Lol. *Now, this might not be funny or even reasonable to you if you’re a foreigner reading this, but for Nigerians, they know how politicians can be associated with such beliefs. Lol!

That’s a gift I’ll never forget in a hurry, due to the manner in which it happened. Meanwhile, before that, I already had two pink shirts, and that one made it three, and for some reason, I’ve never dreamt of giving any of them away.

Please don’t blame me, the three shirts mean a lot to me.

Thanks for reading.

That was so thoughtful of the man giving you such a gift just by observing your dressing in the church. Of course I understand why you can't give out the cloth even though you have same color of the shirt before. This kind of gift from an unexpected people is usually very cherished. It's also a lesson that we can help anyone regardless of our relationship with the person

Honestly, before I'll be able to gift out any of the shirts, I need to hear directly from God first😅.

It's also a lesson that we can help anyone regardless of our relationship with the person

You're very correct on this. This is life for us.

You do indeed attract presents from people. I am sure you were surprised that the CEO gifted you clothes. That was very kind and thoughtful of him. These types of presents are the best because you do not expect them at all. It is understandable that this is a memorable present that you will keep and not want to lend to anyone.

Yeah, the mode at which this particular one came is always baffling to me. I have thought of receiving gift on that manner and also from someone like that.
Thank You

That's lovely. What makes a gift special is the foundational love that projected the giver to give and the impact of the gift on the receiver. Your boss did great.
