One of the things a lot of children hate is doing chores, as a child I hated it too, especially washing the dishes but I had no choice but to do it anyway because the repercussions of not doing them always ended me in tears. Children these days are lucky, their parents may shout and do nothing. Once my mum starts shouting, she uproots Cain from wherever she keeps it. I couldn't even imagine what would happen to me if I didn't do my chores. Countless times have I been beaten till I bleed or had marks on my body. My mother would usually say; “no son of mine will make another person's daughter suffer.” In a way she was making me see that it is not good to leave all the chores for one person even though I could.

Today they call it abuse, although there are parents who abuse these things, my mother was never one of them because if she had not done what she did I would have been comfortable with dirt. You see kids these days who are just book intelligent but strict smart and very manaless because their parents failed to teach them right. My mum is someone who knows how to use the iron fist when necessary. She didn't train us all like that, in fact if not that my sister was almost stubborn, I was the one who received the most beatens from my mother In a bid to correct me.

One of the ways to make kids entitled is giving them rewards for things they should do. But making them understand that the chores are necessary for hygiene and therefore a must do will inculcate the habit of always doing their chores else you might end up raising kids who will look for those that will take rewards for doing the things they should be doing. I do not see why a fully grown human being would not know how to do chores or wash their own clothes clean at least if not that they were not taught as kids. I will always say, kids should be taught that learning itself is a reward instead of giving them rewards to learn. They should know that a clean house that is germs free is reward enough instead of giving them money or gifts.
