STRENGTH DIVERSITY

Let me start this post by saying no child is dull, in fact, no human is dull. Just as you don’t expect a fish to fly and a bird to swim you can not expect everyone to be academically brilliant. The reason a school system was set up was to find, teach and develop our God given potentials, but unfortunately the educational system has made that nearly impossible. And even with all the several means and measures the educational system has put in place to reach out to different kinds of beings, it is clear that our society only measures intelligence from one perspective.

I grew up being academically smart, always figuring out a way to pass my exams, but the truth is not everyone can be like me. My younger brother does not have the mind to navigate through the academic structure like I do. He was doing very poorly in his academics, so much so that my dad was always scolding him for his performance. My mum however would always say non of her children is dull and made it a mission to find out what my brother was good at. This was when we noticed his talent for music alongside his love for practicals.

It became obvious that he was in the wrong school and thus needed to be in a technical school if we wanted to bring the best out of him. In his first term at a technical school, he came out sixth position in a class of over 30 students. You could see in him the joy because it was the first time he came that close to first position. In the former school he was consistently coming out 2nd or 3rd position from behind (if you know what I mean) and despite the tutors my parents hired it made little difference.

In the technical school he was in, they were more practical than theories which made him able to clearly visualize whatever he was taught. The next term my brother came out 3rd and the following term came out 1st. From there, he started representing his school in state competitions and would come out top 3. He even banked scholarships which would see him through his secondary school level. Now imagine we blamed him for his failures then instead of finding a way out for him to excel, how would he have fared… He would probably grow up thinking he’s dull meanwhile he was in the wrong place.

You are eight; no human being is dull. Though it depends on the background. family can enhance the brain capacity.
That is to tell you that your brother has more knowledge doing practical than racking his head thinking of something else.
