MY HIVE HIGHLIGHT: ONBOARDING

Before I started writing this post, I first decided to go check my post from January 1st 2024 when I made an appreciation post to certain people in my life, especially those who were of great help to me last year. But then it's almost a year later, and a lot of things have changed, this also includes people that were on the list I mentioned above. At a point disconnecting from certain relationships hurt, but I also got the opportunity to build new relationships both on and off hive. It's funny how the goals we set tend to either draw people to us, or drive people from us. Sooner or later we have to make a choice of continuing in the part we have chosen or giving up when the going gets tough. This was my life at some point, especially at the beginning when I began to pursue my goals, but I'm content with how things turned out and where I am now.

Of all my Hive goals which I highlighted in a separate post on January 1st, I've been able to accomplish all but one. I wanted to accumulate up to 3000 HP this year, but I encountered some really deep financial crisis at the middle of the year, and then another just recently which had made me pull out most of my funds in the process. Although I'm making plans to revive my hive account from next year with all things being equal, I just hope I can get the necessary things in place and get it right this time. However, one remarkable thing I achieved this year was being able to onboard new people on hive, I was able to onboard a little over 5 new persons this year, and that's because I needed to onboard people I could guide and trust to be consistent.

One of my major goals was to spread the good news of hive to as many as I could reach, and although it wasn't easy, I was able to do my best getting in the likes of @toryfestus @onyinye-chi @bestbeauty @ovieteme @mrkel @zinella @emmyned… to mention but a few. At the moment the most consistent of them all are @toryfestus and @onyinye-chi while the rest still need a good amount of follow up to keep going. I would still be onboarding at least 1 person before the year ends after watching and seeing a bit of seriousness in the person. Truth is that a lot of people have developed interest to join because of how much I invested into sharing the good news of hive. At a point I had to run ads on social media and opened a page dedicated to training people on how to use the hive platform.

I have reached out to more than 100 people on this journey but have only been able to onboard a few who I felt would take this seriously. I did not want to onboard people who were looking for a quick way to make money and therefore I had to set some rules to filter the kind of people I would onboard. At the end of the day, most of the people I onboarded couldn't keep up for almost similar reasons of time management. This made me to further understand that the people I need to onboard are those who do not just have the passion for content creation, but also the time for it. For someone like me who has an offline job it would be pretty hard to engage on hive if I was new. I am able to stay consistent because of how much I had given to it in the past. This would be the template for me to use next year and I hope it would help me bring in active creators this time.
