The Bank Heist - Part 2 (Short Story)
Dantaro turned the corner. Arm extended. He aimed his pistol. The crowd was subdued and still. Some trembled with fear. Some refused to look up from the ground.
He could see the thieves, but they paid no mind to him. He was the one person in the entire room standing, other than them.
One Mulu; a molluscoid bi-ped, with two eyes protruding from the front of its face, on fleshy poles. Three Rotchi; Insectoid Bi-peds, covered in fine black hairs, large mirror plated eyes, and two sets of arms.
The Mulu must have been the ring leader, and it was a surprise to see one of them involved in this sort of job. Usually, Rotchi, and maybe a Triskani would be apart of a crew like this. Mulu were typically cowardly, and much rather a job far from danger.
Nearest to Dantaro, a Rotchi seemed to notice him. Flinching wildly, it turned on its heels, to level its rifle on him, and before it could let out a warning call, Dantaro fired.
One bullet. The Rotchi burst. A spray of yellowish, translucent liquid flew out of his chest. It twitched. Dropping the rifle. As the weapon hit the ground it discharged. The stray shot made the Mulu duck tot he ground. One Rotchi turned to face the wall where the stray shot hit. It must have thought there was more than just Dantaro present.
Leveling his pistol, he fired on the one who didn't look away. Two shots, and the thing was dead, and then he aimed for the other. Just one shot. Four shots, and three bodies later and all that was left was the quivering Mulu.
"Please," it said. "I'm sorry, I didn't." He uttered. "They put me up to it, they have my family." The Mulu nearly started crying as he looked at his dead accomplices dead on the floor. "I wasn't going to hurt anyway."
Dantaro strode to the Mulu, and hit the ejector on his pistol. The steam dissipated. It was cool within a few second, and he cocked it.
"Who put you up to this?" Dantaro asked, as he lowered his pistol, pressing the barrel between the Mulu's eyes.
It jittered, and the fleshy poles separated, creating as much distance as they possibly could between them and the hot steel.
"Big Bima, he put us up to it. The Rotchi were only here to make sure I went through with it." The Mulu said. "Please, you have to believe.. Don't kill me, please."
"I don't believe you, but I won't kill you." Dantaro replied.
"You won't?" The Mulu said, as they sighed with relief.
Dantaro looked over at one of the tellers. "Hit the alarm; lets get the TPD over here."
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" The Mulu asked, visibly shaken. "We could just leave, and forget this happened."
"No chance," Dantaro said, as he took his pistol away and walked behind the Mulu. "They'll want to question someone about what happened here." He said as he pressed his boot into the Mulu's back, forcing him to lay facedown.
A very interesting science fiction story, it has a lot of originality in terms of the species that appear. We remain attentive to the continuation of the next part.
