Mounting Some Shelves

Today, I finally had a chance to do these shelves.

It's a bank holiday today, which was perfect, in fact, everything this weekend - although it was busy - worked out great. Today, we had nothing on, so me Aimee, and Kaleb went out in the morning to forage for food, but sadly most places were closed so we slinked back home with chocolate and crisps, (a true breakfast of champions)

After getting Kaleb down for his nap I got the stuff together to get these up.

They were fairly handy to mount, and the only thing I was really concerned with was that they were level, and also that they were in line with one another.

The shelves are about 3.5 foot long, and knew they'd be perfect for what I needed them for.

This wall was to have 4 on it, while the other two shelves I have will be going above my computer desk and monitor.

The wall was mounting them on was plasterboard, so I used these rawl plugs, which are designed specifically for it.

About 10 holes were mount left each shelf feeling really secure, and considering there would be some weight on them, I'm happy to know they're not loose.

Here they are after hovering and cleaning the dust, and putting the shelves on their brackets.

Now that I finally have them up I couldn't resist getting them filled.

My intention was to have two shelves for games, and two for Halo sets, but as you can see I decided to use three for Halo sets.

There are many more things I need to put up, so at this point I'm considering using the other two shelves for even more Halo stuff.

The top shelf is going to be reserved for larger sets, the Elephant on the left will stay, maybe the Rhino tank too, but I need to mix stuff around to make way for Countdown.

Countdown is a set with a launchpad, and rocket. Since it's fairly tall I have no choice but to put it up on the top shelf. I haven't got it out on display yet, so for now I'll leave it where it is, until I can work out some space.

This shelf has a few medium sized vehicles on it.

I'm happy to have these sets out on display while I'm waiting to sell them.

They're really cool, and at least I can get some enjoyment out of them while I have them.

One this shelf I have some more medium sized vehicles.

I also decided to put out some smaller sets of figures I have.

Making some small scenes, or dioramas would be cool, but I'm still limited for space so have to think practically about how to display/ store these things.

My dad was having a clear out of his room and came across these shelves which he never put together.

After mounting the four shelves I got to work on these and put them up, and they're the perfect size for displaying some stuff.

I never got the shelves up over my desk, but I'll do them next week when I'm back home. From there I will focus primarily on organising my space and getting it sorted out.

I love finding the use for something like shelves. It’s really annoying how a lot of places don’t have fucking storage space! We ended up installing a BUNCH of shelves in our place because it was just crazy how little space we had but we had wide open walls. I did go a little overboard on some of it but I hate not having places to put things lol.

Looking good on the shelves man! Good handy work :D

What makes it even better is I actually got the shelving for free. On my way to work one day six of them were sitting outside someones house along with some other stuff with a note saying free to take.

I saved myself a fair bit on them, and all I had to do was carry them back home.

My office is essentially going to be wall to wall shelving at this point haha
