Building The Elephant Troop Transport

I got another bundle of Halo stuff not long ago, but I haven't had a chance to dedicate any time to it. Last night, however, I was able to get cracking with this build because I was excited to see how it would turn out.

Some bits and pieces were kind of assembled already, which I thought would make it easier, truth be told it didn't.

There was a bit of messing around looking for pieces, and eventually, I just had to dismantle sections to get this built.

Essentially these builds are done in layers, so it makes the whole process a bit confusing when trying to figure it out from pre-built sections.

I got the base plate together and put the hoods over the wheels, which helped, and from there all I needed to do was continue to build up the walls.

Already it was shaping up, but there was still a way to go.

Assembled with the walls built up it really started to look good.

It's fairly large, and as I continued to build I started to get worried, because where the hell am I supposed to put this thing when it's done?

Here's a shot of the same time in the build, looking inside.

There is a lot of space inside to fit figures, and also the small Mongoose quad bike which comes with this set.

The bike and some other parts of this are in a separate bag, as I saw them before. Namely the turrets of the top of the vehicle.

When I got the walls built, all I had to do then was attach the cockpit, which was built.

The crane was kind of fiddly, as I had to figure out the plate based on what was already there, and what needed to be built. The cockpit too, was a bit of a chore because bits had come off and needed to be found.

These projects are always time-consuming, and it didn't bother me too much.

At this point I decided to stop because I needed to go through the bags and look for some more pieces.

It's looking pretty damn good though, and all I really need to do is get the turrets, two wall pieces, and a lip that goes down below the wheel hood.

All in all, it was a successful mission, and there isn't much left to do for it. But, now, I need to find somewhere for it to live for the time being.
