Two Rules To Earning Passive Income With Atlas Earth
I've started to play Atlas Earth about 40 days ago and after a slow start, things are starting to get interesting. It took me a whole week to earn my first Cent in the game and almost three weeks for my first 10 cents. Things have been accelerating ever since and I'm now sitting at $1.82 earned after 40 days. If you don't know anything about Atlas Earth, you might want to check this article first, as I'm going through the basic concepts there. In short, though, Atlas Earth is a Play2Earn "game" that lets you buy virtual land in the real world which then pays you rent in real world Dollar for as long as you own the plot (and the game keeps running).
While this app obviously isn't going to make you rich or anything, I do have to admit that it has some potential and thanks to the passive character of income it provides, you can always stop to use it and still keep earning - something quite different to most other Paid4-Apps you'll find out there. There are a lot of mistakes to be made with it, though, and so today I want to provide you with my top two rules for building passive income in Atlas Earth without being screwed over by the system... or yourself.
Rule 1: Never EVER spend money on Atlas Earth!
This rule is by far the most important one and I really can't stress this enough. Don't ever spend money on the game. Atlas Earth is great for a little passive income over time. But if you spend any money on the game, you'll always be on the receiving end of things and this is by design. Just think about it. The game is essentially just redistributing money. They are never going to redistribute all of it, obviously, as they want to earn a (probably rather big) part of what's coming in. So for every dollar you earn in the game, they probably want to earn at least 5 or even 10 dollar. Think of it this way - the people spending money on the game are actually the people paying you. So don't be a spender, be an earner.
But don't just take my word for it, let's just look at the numbers:
Let's assume you want to go in big and spend $1000 on the game. This would net you 26,000 Atlas Bucks which are going to buy you 260 plots of land. This puts us at a price of about $3.8 per plot.
Now a normal plot of land generates $0.00000000111 rent per second.
That's $0.0000015984 rent per day or $0.000583416 per year.
Now there's the boost which will vary in power depending on how many plots you hold and where you live. Let's just assume you can keep it at 20x which would be a pretty good value.
Even with that, you'll earn a bit more than $0.01 per year and plot.
Now of course there are rarer plots which provide higher rent, there's the occasional 50x boost event, and so forth. But even if we'd 10x the value above, it would still take 40 years for you to recover what you've spent on buying that plot.
So, once again and very obviously, do not spend any money on the game. Ever. You will not recover it.
Rule 2: Be mindful of your time!
Once you've made the (very important) decision not to spend any money on the game, there's obviously only one way to progress with your plots and that's grinding it out. Atlas Earth provides you with a lot of different ways to earn Atlas Bucks and if you don't watch yourself, you might end up spending very much time on the game for a very tiny progress.
The most straightforward way of earning Atlas Bucks is by running ads in the app. Every 20 minutes, you can watch an ad for 1 or 2 Atlas Bucks, depending on where you live. This does add up over time, and it makes sense to run an ad whenever you have the time. But that's the key here. Do it only when you have the time. Say I'm submitting battles in Splinterlands and I'm waiting for my opponent to submit his team - that's a great time to just start the ad and just close the app again. But don't set an alarm for every 20 minutes, don't interrupt what you are doing just to run an ad. Only do it when you wouldn't be doing anything else anyway. You will burn out if you try to min max it!
The same goes for every other aspect of the game as well. Always challenge yourself to see if you are actually just wasting time that you'd much rather spend on something else or if you are actually just killing time that you wouldn't spend on anything else right now any way.
There really are just two things that you really should be doing every day in Atlas Earth and that's
- Claiming the Daily Login Bonus
- Spinning the Diamond Wheel 5 times
These two activities are done in an instant and they will provide you with a steady income of Atlas Bucks that won't take any effort from you. On average, you'll make about 15 Atlas Bucks each day with that and you don't have to interrupts your usual activities all the time for it.
To spin the wheel, you will need diamonds, obviously. Once again, it would be a mistake to just start running around, trying to collect these diamonds. They are randomly distributed across the world and going around by foot, you might take a lot of time to just get the 5 you need for a day. Worse even, you might to start going out of your way to collect a diamond, once again just wasting your time. Instead, just open the app when you are riding on a train or in car (that somebody else is driving, obviously). Do that for 10 minutes and you'll have enough diamonds for weeks - without wasting any time on it.
So as you might have noticed, both of these rules actually aren't aimed at ways to earn the most Atlas Bucks, their goal is to make playing Atlas Earth enjoyable and profitable for you. Of course there's a lot to be said about different strategies in the game as well and if there's any interest, I will get back to talk about those as well. But in my opinion, it's way more important to focus on your own well being first before worrying about earning a penny more or less per day!
I've heard about this game more and more lately. It reminds me of a slightly more gamified version of Upland (another AR real estate game). The tips sound very helpful and could definitely apply to any game. I didn't read your first article about this game (sort of just rolled my eyes since Atlas Earth seems to be popping up everywhere) but this article offers a new perspective!
I didn't want to effectively get "sucked in", too distracted, and maybe even waste fiat on it. With your tips, however, it's like we can get the game and play it instead of being played by the game.
Time to check out the previous article!
Hey, thanks for stopping by, always happy to hear from you!
I really like the passive income aspect of Atlas Earth. There are a ton of apps that pay you pennies for random stuff, but you won't get anything from them the moment you stop jumping through their loops. That's somewhat different here.
But ya, you really need to take care not to get sucked in, it's easy to waste a lot of time for very small returns. On the other hand, by the end of the year, I should get to $10/month. Not much but also not nothing and frankly... I just enjoy these kind of things ;-)
