Disney Ruined Our Relationships

As a child, I was obsessed with Disney and their princesses, it even got to a point that it was all I was willing to watch, and this frustrated everyone in my household but, I didn’t care.

My obsession with Disney didn’t only annoy everyone around me, but it made me so stupid because I was praying for a Disney fairy tale to happen to me when I grew up; I now wish I didn’t pray for it because damn.

Now, looking back I can say that I have had my own share of Disney fairytales because, in reality, most of them were toxic just my past relationships.

You might be curious about why I say Disney fairytales were toxic, so I’ll break it down and let me warn you that you might leave here heartbroken.

CINDERELLA AKA MODERN-DAY GOLD DIGGER

First, let’s talk about Cinderella, I think most of us started our Disney princess journey with Cinderella and it was supposed to teach us about how if you were hardworking and good, you would get a prince; wrong.

Cinderella's story is an example of a broke girl leveling up because tells me how she fell in love with a prince in a day.

Cinderella simply saw a way to level up and she took it like a boss babe and even threw one of her shoes away, so he could find her, c’mon, tell me you don’t get it.

In the end, Cinderella conned her way to get a prince using witchcraft, and the prince was dumb enough to let it; prince charming is said to be the dumbest prince, in case you didn’t know.

TRAUMATIZED AND THE BEAST

In case you don’t know who traumatized is, well people call her belle or beauty, choose your fighter.

Beauty is what I call a woman in a relationship with her abuser and what could be more toxic than that.

She was kidnapped by a literally beast and instead of screaming for help like a normal person would do, she decided to throw a ball with teacups and clocks.

In reality, I think Beauty was just a girl who was traumatized and became coo coo crazy.

SLEEPING BEAUTY

Now, this is the worse of them all and it is sad that I once wished that I could fall asleep and be awakened by true love's kiss; thinking of it makes me want to throw up in my mouth.

Sleeping Beauty after being pricked by the spinning wheel fell into a deep slumber and was awakened by a prince who kisses her.

This story sounds good until you realize that she didn’t even know the fricking prince so how the hell was it true love? At best, it was a pervert obsessed with her who saw a way to take advantage.

In reality, the prince would have been a reason for a me too campaign, and Twitter would have torn him down but then again, he is a prince so, he might get the pretty privilege.

FINALLY,

There are so many other stories that I could tackle like Aladdin being a fraudster, Ariel losing her voice by getting married, or whatever she did and so on, but let’s stop here.

I can say one thing though, if you are in a toxic relationship and you watched Disney, well all your wishes surely came to pass.
