The Christmas Vacation Kicks in, more sleep for me.

I found this beautiful old photo still in my phone since shot back on January 2019. My android phone is now ancient technology in electronics years and it wasn’t even the top, second or even the third of that generation phones at the time.

image.png
Bonsor Recreation Center, January 2019.

“Black birds tend to like shiny things.” ~ The Bloody Raven

It’s just one example of the cost saving decisions I made scrutinizing my expenses and getting what features that are necessary with an almost barebones plan. We don’t have to get the latest. And to keep saving my buying power in off the grid assets. My carrier knows my phone is old so I am often being offered a new phone deal.

Speaking of saving, many wise Stackers in my past recommend paying off outstanding costly debts before diving headlong into action with my Stacking plan. A wise point to consider since there were cases of Stackers that have fallen into hard times and end up liquidating their holdings to make ends meet often selling at a loss. It’s a real possibility since the Fed’s objective is to keep Inflation under control at the expense of jobs.

image.png

If I was strict about it, I could pay off my home repairs cost expenses balance in 16 to 18 months, and that is with practically no stacking while rebuilding my Emergency fund at about $200 to $300 per month barring any unexpected new repairs or expenses. While my $13k of my $14.5K of my (GEF) General Emergency funds are depleted I had still segregated aside $1,500 for my (EMF) Emergency Medical funds. With my roommate having cancer I should double that.

As a Veteran Stacker it would be the prudent plan.
But no.

I still want to stack at least a coin or two per month.

My Stackitis is far too advanced to go cold turkey and I am not going to sell any of my Crypto assets to fund it either. If it extends my debt out to two or two and a half years, I’ll take that bit of a chance and my choice to make. Even If I may be on disability, I’d still have some budget wiggle room.

If not, well things ca change, I’ve managed to survive worse decisions in the past.

Show more silver? Sure.

This week’s silver was my last Stack for 2022 but scaled back 75% from my original plan holding back a few hundred CAD should a surprise silver Boxing Day deal pops up from any of my Retailers.
Silvergoldbull got the nod with a decent Cybermonday deal discounting 10% from their retail prices. Both @punkysdad and I combined our orders to easily make the $300 free shipping threshold. While he got some more 2016 Snow Falcons, I loaded up on the Britannias that turned out lower priced than the Maple Leafs.

Inner border Security Microtext; DECUS ET TUTAMEN
.999 fine silver, Weight 31.2g
Diameter 38.6 mm, thickness 3mm

I think the security features of this version of the Britannia are top notch within the scale of function and utility as a legal tender coin. The feature like the wave pattern blends into the artist further emphasizing the United Kingdom’s storied naval history. Cartwheeling this coin in a good light simulates a lovely wave motion.
The Privy mark shifts from the Image of a Trident point to a Padlock as the next dominant security feature.

image.png

Repeated around the inner border are the micro text “DECUS ET TUTAMEN” Latin for ‘An ornament and a safeguard’ is a clever reboot of an old coining practice applied to the edges of early milled coins to discourage filing off of metal from the edges under weighting the coin.
And finally, Britannia’s shield is faithfully emblazoned with the Union Jack that is textured in fine lines rather than a plain finish.
These make this edition of the Britannia extremely difficult and costly to feasibly counterfeit. Though I will still test them on my CCT Neodymium magnet test slide.

My original plan was to add more Silver Maple Leafs to my core stack, however I am always drawn to the history of the Trade dollar. Not just that the Britannia is a testimony to her mariner merchant past but also a connection to a part of my family tree such that I had to have a few of the original British Trade dollars in my Stack.
The added value of security features are the icing on the cake that makes this purchase a good move for me.
So now I got this thing for Trade dollars.

So are there any coins that connect you to your ancestors?

I hear you, I've been burning through my cash getting my house ready for a stupid insurance home inspection. I don't think I could bring myself to sell any of my precious metals though times would have to be really hard!

Getting the house up to code wasn't cheap, my Contractor said I was fortunate that my house hasn't already had a series of electrical fire yet. Only plenty resetting of popped breakers and patching a plumbing leak now and then. I feel safer now that my home passed inspection last week. Good luck with yours @tbnfl4sun

Ahhh.....I see you are still suffering from "advanced Stackitis "......
Not to worry @kerrislravenhill , not "financial advice" but it sounds like you have a solid plan to rebuild your emergency fund!!😀. Even it it takes longer because of silver stacking, remember if all else fails silver can be sold quickly for emergency cash........ If needed😇

It's the kind of Stackitis that requires a delicate balance of financial priorities. So it's analogous to being on an IV drip versus a Denny's Grand slam breakfast.
I just have to endure the discomfort longer.
I haven't been to the point of selling any of my Stack but I will need to practice thinking of the possibility when push comes to shove.
Thank God I have a dependable job @silvertop 🎄

I'm very glad you have a good job @kerrislravenhill , I look at that as part of diversification, stacking and life in general.....

The new Britannia are so advance with unique features. And great design makes it a coin in demand. I do have a older version of this coin !

This is what I meant about historical significance, a grandmother of mine with her predecessors came over from China with aspirations of freedom and a spirit of enterprise. This trade dollar represents that and why I am getting fond of the current Britannia.

Lovely Britannia sis! The security features are awesome and it a nicely done coin. I don't see the harm in continuing to stack. You are working on your debt and you could cut out some type of splurge you do for yourself (for example, mine would be buying coffees, if I bought them). It's good to have contingency plans in case you find yourself without a job. I think you've got this.

Have a very Merry Christmas sis and enjoy your family and loved ones! Much love!🤗😘💞🎄 !LADY

The Britannias were a logical choice as alternative to my standard Maple Leaf after all Canada is still a Commonwealth country with political and economic ties. Ideally I was shooting for my Core Stack to be Canada:UK:USA of 80:10:10%. The high premiums put tha on hold.
I got lots of Free McD's coffee salvaging those stickers when I was moonlighting at a Recycling depot.
Selling my silver would be my last stand, selling the generic bars first, we're far from being there.

You are welcome, sis, @kerrislravenhill! The premiums on the Silver Eagle (2022) are crazy for sure! I don't even like the new design. I'm glad you have a plan; hang onto that AG for another rainy day! Take care and Merry Christmas!🤗💜🎄🎁

Cash what is cash? I bought some silver this year, but no where near what I’d like to. Bills pile up quicker now then ever. Premiums suck and spot is high at the moment.
This addition is gonna cost me an arm, leg and I’m sure something else if it ever gets approved.

I hear you @silverd510 , with the price of goods and services inflating it's no wonder cash gets scarce. Add the effects of Quantitative tightening, market liquidity issues only make it more painful.
It may be painful now but may turn a blessing later.

It's a bit of a tightrope walk but I can make adjustments along the way. Believe me that I hated to raise my Tenant's rental of my suite as she's on Social Assistance with kids. Her benefits don't come close to keeping her bills paid.
She's relieved to move back in, she discovered that she could not afford market rate rentals realizing I deliberately kept my Rent well below the market rate.

At times, life becomes so tough and we even feel the need to sell our precious assets. You love them and so you know how to keep on building.

That coin with a trident is beautiful one. Making your order enough for free shipping is a nice strategy. It saves the amount for aome other needs

I'd try to secure better loan terms using my metals as collateral and should that not be possible...
The first to sell would be my Generic Silver 10 oz. bars, there is a certain order of liquidation I have planned. The last to sell would be my pirate silver but I'd have a Viking burial and taking it with me, ha ha!.

I do have other versions of, "Epic ladies with pointy weapons."

They all are beautiful.

I have a question. Do these designed coins and bars have similar worth as that of plain silver bar or they have more value?

0
0
0.000
avatar

The top left coin is a 1902 British Trade dollar minted at the New Delhi whose purpose is to trade with China, it's historical and mintage gives this coin a much higher Numismatic/collector's value of about $120 to $180 USD well over it's bullion value of just under $20.

The Amazon Barbie doll bar is worth at least Bullion value but may be rare for I have seen only one other bar and I have yet to find the actual mintage to prove it.

So @amberkashif, Coin or bar value depends on; Condition, rarity, desirability of the design/collectible, bullion value and sometimes historical factors.

I got it.
Do we know at the time of buying what worth the coin or bar is going to have in future? Or is it the future that decides the value?

The floor value would be based on how much it would cost to mine, refined, make into a useful form and distribute into the market. Mining being energy intensive, Inflation will force the cost of mined products up or they would close down if they cannot sell at a sustaining price. Supply and demand.
The key point is that of the metal's end use/demand for finished products.
Gold has a much higher demand as an Investment Asset than for Industrial and manufacturing demands.
Silver has a larger Industrial and Manufacturing demand than as an Investment asset. Electronics has the largest demand on silver.
There are many other factors.

A good website I check is https://www.silverinstitute.org/
