Alone in my Thoughts.

They say "Be careful of what you wish for" and I believe that statement to be true. We can't possibly be sure of what the future holds and that's why I try to appreciate the journey I've had and the things I'm going through even when I know that I have some other things that momentarily hit my mind.

I have really wild thoughts about things and there are moments when I start thinking about weird things which could make for an interesting discussion. Just this morning, I was wondering what life could be like if we were spending time without our phones.

This is something I've experienced back when I haven't started using solar energy as my primary source of electricity supply. This was way before I started investing heavily in Power banks. Back then, there were moments when my gadgets had low batteries and I had to go pay to have them charged. I couldn't possibly hang around to make use of the phones at that point so I had to deal with the discomfort of being without my gadgets.

For context, here's what happens when I'm with my gadgets.

I have so much going on in those moments. I can wake up and immediately start the day by reading some stuff online. I then do some work especially now that most of my earning comes from the stuff I do online. I'm also a big consumer of video content and I don't think any day passes without me listening to a podcast. That's how engaged I get with the Internet world.

Now, imagine what the case would be when I'm not with my gadgets.

Back then, when I was at home and my gadgets had low batteries, the discomfort that came with that was usually outta the world. A part of me felt anxious about all the stuff that I would have on my table when I finally had my gadgets charged. It's like that for maybe 10 minutes but once I push through that, I start improvising to still make the best of that situation.

There was a time when I had that issue and with no music or podcast to listen to, I decided to start cleaning up my house. I got through that and was left with just my thoughts. I never really struggled with creativity issues, but in those moments, I noticed that my creative juice was having a wild rush. I tapped into that and I was able to stretch that creativity to heights which I didn't know existed.

Something about that moment stuck with me. I don't ever wish to be in a situation where I can't use my gadgets because of a lack of electricity. However, I've become someone who understands the importance of just being in your own thoughts without allowing these gadgets to cause any distractions. I now momentarily disconnect myself from my gadgets just to think. It has been an interesting improvement to my lifestyle.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

Before gadgets I read more, crafted more, and spent more time watching TV to unwind and for entertainment. Nowadays I read books on Kindle or listen to book on Audible. I definitely spend a lot less time watching TV these days. If so, I'll stream a series or watch a movie.

I am glad I grew up in a time when tech was not present in our everyday lives in the way it is today. Having said that, I'm also very grateful for how connected we are and how technology has made that possible. I also appreciate the kind of work I do (podcast production) that enables me to work with a global clientele all within the comfort of my home studio.

Like most things there is a pro and a con to it. Technology is neither good or bad. It is how we use it for the benefit or detriment of our lives.

Thanks for the post. You made me think a little deeper. Cheers!

Thanks so much for sharing this. Wow. While reading your comment, it highlighted the exact things I tried to share in the post.

I'm glad we have the tech we have now. Yet, I've also realized the importance of being able to keep the tech aside for few minutes or hours in order to just be in touch with the physical environment. That has been an interesting lesson to learn. Haha.

You are doing so well with the the opportunities offered by tech in this modern day. Your podcasting journey alone is really inspiring.
