My soul seeks that without my grasp
A little stretching here and there
Yet farther it moves, a shift at a time
Like ripples on the surface of tranquil waters
Rocking my rickety boat

A little spark once upon a time
Lights a fire in my soul,
So wild and untamed I feared it might engulf me
It was the birth of a scary fearlessness
Blazing through the nooks of my dreams

Conceal it in the secret crannies within
An inextinguishable inferno it swiftly became
Blazing through the past into the present
Heading onto an unknown future
Until it smacks against an icy, ancient glacier

A deafening hiss from the chill of the cold
Almost tempers the fire in my soul
Love and fierce desire withers slowly
The thump thump rhythms of a once roaring flame
Fades like the whispers of a dream in waking

I rummage in the heart of a fiery furnace
Uncaring for the searing pain to my waning flesh
My lost fire I must rekindle
For it is no myth or illusion
But the truth of me—this fire in my soul.
