Two Hearts And A Spectre [Poetry]

A wild tempest rattles the door
Heart racing
Chest heaving
Sweat erupts from pores
Arrayed on the smooth, soft skin
Unveiling the depths
Of the deepest fear

Was it a spectre lurking?
Or a phantom in a shadowy guise
Spreading doubt and dread
Swaying to an inaudible music
The gale loudly roars
Heralding the arrival of the unknown

Then it's a chilling silence
Tempest and gale at an abrupt rest
When a steady heart
Embraces the racing one
In hidden corners
The spectre phases into the wall

It's a drama cut short
By the believing, dauntless heart
Eyes unseeing and ears unhearing
The deepest fear that lingers
In corners where the walls meet
And the spectre watches

A spoken word from the trembling soul
So the creeping doubt
And anxious fear may be real
But the dauntless holds sway
The embrace gives courage to vanquish
The shade of the deepest fear

I love how you explore metaphor and imagery with this poem. You explain to us how fear it for person and how we can overcome fear by being resilient but sometimes or most times we let fear rule over us in so many aspect of our life. I love this poem, it a reminder we shouldn't let fear take over now how big the fear might appear to be.

You're right. Fear is powerful and is so because we make it so. When we combat it with love, it ceases to exist. I try to imagine the effect of the deepest fear on a person when writing this piece.

Thanks so much for reading and commenting. 💕 !PIMP
