This poignant piece by one of our regulars takes us on a metaphorical journey of life! I love poems like this—thought-provoking. They compare the journey of life to walking along thorny borders. Descriptions like "sharp glass", "stones sharp as flints" and "wounds are inevitable" paint an uncomfortable picture of hardships that people from all walks of life face. I'm yet to meet someone that'll tell me life is smooth and it's goodies.

but it's a lost battle,
wounds are inevitable,

This verse conveys that the path of life is demanding; we accept what we can and keep going or stop at some point! This poet's artistic expression is lucid and free verse. I enjoyed reading and hope they continue to publish their works with us. Well done!

The Whir Of The Wheels—A Bus Park Rhythm By @marriot5464

This poet's piece resonates with the heart—they are real and paint true stories. It's poignant, immersing readers in the struggles of everyday life. Some poems put you into an introspective mood, reflecting on every word and verse to decipher the mind of the poet. But this poet doesn't put us through such arduousness. Rather they paint a vivid picture of life's hustles and how people struggle to pursue their goals.

Once the next bus comes again,
And these cycles repeat again,

There's a rhythmic flow in every stanza. This hustle doesn't end with boarding a bus and getting to a destination. There's more. The use of this imagery mirrors the unending cycle of life's struggles. This piece doesn't fit into a specific traditional poetic form. It's a free verse that leans heavily on imagery. Well done, @marriot5464! We hope to read more inspiring poems from you.

The Feast Of Greed By @emrysjobber66

I don't know much about the Mediterranean sea or pirates but this fine poet takes us on a fascinating journey that examines pirates as ruthless looters facing a gruesome fate. He creates a contrast between the pirates' greed and how nature responds to it. Aka, the law of karma.

They slashed one another
with knives and planks
bullets and gun powders
till there was no one left

The poet's writing style is unique, like I'm watching a movie. The imagery is vivid and they draw readers into this world of violence and the aftermath such that "there was no remains to gather to bury them at sea".

This poem is thought-provoking and calls for reflection on the consequences of human greed and conflict. It's a free verse poem and well written. We hope you keep writing with us, @emrysjobber66.

These are our selections for this week. We hope the Scholars found something to read and the Scribes discovered something new about the craft. Thank you for stopping by and see you all next week!
