This Is How I Spent My Second Day in Bohol

Happy Wednesday Hivers!

This is not my first time in Bohol. In fact, this is my 4th time visiting this beautiful island. I used to have companions every time I came here, and we often stayed for 2 days. For me, 2 days were not enough to thoroughly explore this majestic island, so I promised myself that one day I would come back, stay longer, and explore the place ALONE. And now I have already fulfilled that promise.

Although I still have a lot of time to explore the place since I will be staying here for a month, I didn't wait for my rest day in order to start exploring. I began today after finishing my work. I had intended to start yesterday on my first day here, but due to numerous urgent tasks at work, I postponed it to today.

I didn't have difficulty finding a place to dine on my first day here because there's an eatery close to where I'm staying. The prices are affordable for a budget traveler like me.

I have also discovered that I am close to a school. Therefore, the school will serve as my landmark in case I ever get lost.

And I was a bit pleased when I discovered that I am also near the church. I won't need to spend a single penny for my fare on Sundays to attend mass as I am just close to the Catholic church.

Honestly, when I travel, my expenses for water are a bit high. I'm grateful to have discovered a water refilling station nearby, as I can save money compared to buying bottled water every day, which is expensive.

After a few minutes of walking, I decided to visit their public beach. My landlady had told me that it was within walking distance. I asked the locals which road to take to get to the beach. I was grateful as the locals kindly showed me where it was located.

Fishing is one of the livelihoods here, so I wasn't astonished when I saw many fishing boats out at sea.

It was low tide, and there were a few people around. Most of them were fishermen, busy preparing their boats.

I checked around their beach, and it wasn't what I had pictured in my mind. I thought I could walk barefoot, but there was a bit of disappointment because I couldn't see a shoreline around. I could only see a mangrove swamp and cottages.

I was curious about the two floating cottages I saw in the distance. I wanted to ask about them, but there was no one near me.

When I noticed that the sun was close to setting on the horizon, I quickly strolled around the area so I could get home before dusk. Since I'm not familiar with the place yet, it's not a good idea to head home during dusk.

Have you seen the island in the photo? I thought that was Cebu island. I laughed when the locals told me that it is actually part of Bohol island.

I checked the other part of the beach and also found a mangrove swamp and a cottage. I walked until I reached a dead end where mangroves dominated the area.

I decided to head home after strolling around because the sun was already close to the horizon, and darkness could fall anytime.

As I was on my way home, I saw a street vendor selling street food. I bought my favorite street food, which is tempura, and enjoyed it while walking back home.

Although it wasn't dark yet, the street was already filled with emptiness. Perhaps when it gets darker, this place becomes even quieter.

Since I am not good at estimating distances, I tracked the distance from the beach to the place where I am staying. It is more than 1 kilometer, but don't mind the time as I forgot to stop it when I arrived.

That's how I spent my second day in Bohol. This is my entry for this week's #wednesdaywalk initiated by @tattoodjay.

Namaste! I am fond of reading books, watching korean, american and filipino series/movies and I am also fond of gardening. I love listening to different life stories and I am always captivated with the beauty of nature so travel is my escape when life turns into blue. But hey, how could I forget my photography hobby? It is one of the best, so follow me as I will be featuring my experiences of the stuff that I am passionate with.

That's true, that's why I find ways to minimize my expenses on water.
