Let Me Take You on My Journey Back Home
Happy Wednesday Hivers!
Witnessing the jaw-dropping scenery is one of the reasons why I like to travel by bus. Aside from being cheap, I am able to savor the scenery. I always choose the window seat so I can take photos and have a clear view of the outside while traveling. Besides, I don't want to miss out on the astounding view along the road. Although there were times when I could sleep, most of the time I am fully awake.
Last week, I received good news from my niece @melria06 that her student visa for Canada was approved. I could feel the rush of exhilaration she had felt. Going to Canada was one of her dreams. Although I'm glad because I know there's a golden opportunity awaiting her there, I couldn't help but feel sad as we won't see each other in person for a few years. So, while she still has 2 months remaining here, I decided to go home to spend time and bond with her. Today, I want to show you the wonderful scenery that I always savor every time I travel back home.
Dumaguete City is a city located in Negros Island, specifically in Negros Oriental. Negros Island is one of the nearby islands in the southern part of Cebu. If you're coming to Tampi Port, which is situated in San Jose, Negros Oriental, and you're traveling to Bato Port, situated in Bato, Cebu, the ferry ride takes approximately 30 minutes.
Since I was traveling from Dumaguete City to Talisay City, Cebu, my travel time takes 6 hours, including the ferry ride.
We departed from Ceres Terminal in Dumaguete City at 10:30 in the morning. It takes approximately 1 hour to travel from Dumaguete City to Tampi Port. Therefore, we arrived at Bato Port exactly at 12:00 noon. By the way, the fare costed PHP 473.00 or around $8. Since it was already lunchtime, the bus conductor informed us that we had to have our lunch before continuing our journey. This was the view I had while enjoying a quick lunch at Bato Port.
After we had our quick lunch, we left Bato Port in no time. I started feeling excitement because, in a few minutes, I would be able to see many wonderful scenery along the road.
I traveled via Oslob, a place famous for its beautiful white sand beaches and a tourist spot where one can go swimming with whales. Have you seen the island in the photo below? That is one of the stunning islands you can find in Oslob, where some hotels are located. It is called Sumilon Island.
I was fortunate on this journey because there was no passenger in the seat beside me, allowing me to move freely while taking photos outside.
The greenery helps me relax while traveling. This is one of my favorite aspects of Oslob, as there are many trees along the road, providing a sense of tranquility. It contributes to a great sense of relaxation for passengers.
If you experience motion sickness, you may find it difficult to travel on the road with many blind curves. I consider myself lucky as I do not have any issues with this type of road.
As we continued our journey, I didn't take a nap as I was captivated by the mesmerizing scenery. Fishing is one of the main livelihoods in the countryside, which is why there are many small fishing boats out at sea.
What I like about the southern part of Cebu is the abundance of beautiful public white sand beaches where one can enjoy the beach for free. As long as there are no fences around, you can freely access and enjoy the beach without any entrance fee.
After passing by the coastal area, a different view greeted us outside. The Philippines had just celebrated the 125th Anniversary of Philippine Independence on June 12, which is why the Philippine flags were displayed in parks. This particular park is located along the road, so I was able to snap a photo of it while traveling.
As we continued our journey, the view outside drastically changed from the coastal area to vast rice and corn fields, as well as a fish pond. In addition to fishing, agriculture thrives as a major livelihood here due to the wide expanse of land suitable for farming.
One of the indicators that I am getting closer to my hometown is when I catch sight of this famous fast-food restaurant and ancient building in Car2x.
After 6 hours of traveling, I finally arrived safely in my hometown. Although it was a long ride, I didn't feel tired because I enjoyed watching the beautiful scenery.
If you're asking about my trip, it was great as everything went smoothly.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!

Gosh, green and blue is always the best combination as it scream natures and peace. Good thing you are not mahiluhin sa bus no.
I'm so grateful na hindi ako mahiluhin baka lahat nang travel plans ko hanggang drawing lang pag nahihilo ako sa byahe. Thanks @ruffatotmeee for dropping by.
That's good news on the visa, those things aren't easy to get. I was denied a Canadian immigration years ago when thinking of places to move abroad to. I have been trying to get my Cambodian wife and stepdaughters into the USA for 6 years without any luck, not even able to get an interview date because of so much red tape.
What a beautiful ride, even though it's just a ferry trip, the scenery is more captivating than what many tourists would pay to see during a pleasure cruise.
You're right, it's not easy to get a visa approved. Actually, her first visa application was denied two years ago, but despite the initial denial, she never gave up. I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the visa application.
We are lucky here in the Philippines because we have an abundance of such beautiful scenery.
Thanks for dropping by @justinparke!
