Espero que se encuentren súper bien. Hoy quiero contarles que este lunes estuve muy ocupada y llena de preocupaciones. Como saben, mi mayor miedo es que mis hijos hereden mi miopía magna y pasen por las mismas dificultades que yo.
Hace unos meses, comencé a notar que mi hijo Dylan mostraba dificultades para ver. A veces veía bien, pero otras veces decía que no podía ver con claridad. Esto me tenía muy preocupada, por lo que decidí llevarlo a la oftalmóloga que me atendió a mí hace unas semanas. Me gustó mucho su atención y que también atiende a niños, así que me sentí tranquila de llevarlo con ella.

I hope you are feeling great. Today I want to tell you that this Monday I was very busy and full of worries. As you know, my biggest fear is that my children will inherit my myopia magna and go through the same difficulties as me.
A few months ago, I started noticing that my son Dylan was having difficulty seeing. Sometimes he would see fine, but other times he would say he couldn't see clearly. This had me very concerned, so I decided to take him to the ophthalmologist who saw me a few weeks ago. I really liked her care and that she also treats children, so I felt comfortable taking him to her.

Apenas llegamos, le hicieron a Dylan diferentes pruebas en varios equipos. Los resultados confirmaron mis sospechas: Dylan es miope. Tiene -3.50 en el ojo derecho y -2.75 en el izquierdo. No lo podía creer. ¿Cómo era posible que un niño de solo 6 años tuviera un nivel tan alto de miopía? Me sentí fatal conmigo misma y muy culpable.
We got up a little early to have breakfast and drop baby Ethan off with grandma. Then Dylan and I took the van to the medical center where the doctor has her office. They were already waiting for us because she had called ahead to schedule us.
As soon as we arrived, Dylan underwent different tests on various pieces of equipment. The results confirmed my suspicions: Dylan is nearsighted. He has -3.50 in his right eye and -2.75 in his left eye. I couldn't believe it, how was it possible for a boy of only 6 years old to have such a high level of myopia? I felt terrible about myself and very guilty.
Yo a su edad ya tenía -6 de miopía y usaba unos lentes tan gruesos que mi infancia fue muy complicada. No quiero que Dylan pase por lo mismo. Hoy en día tengo -14, pero ha sido por falta de información y un poco de descuido. Mi miopía es degenerativa, pero con Dylan no será así.
La Dra. nos dijo que debemos ir cada 6 meses para que ella pueda controlar el proceso de Dylan y su adaptación a los lentes. También tendremos que hacer un seguimiento anual de su evolución. Espero que todo vaya bien.
I was already -6 myopic at his age and wore such thick glasses that my childhood was very complicated. I don't want Dylan to go through the same thing. Today I am -14, but it has been due to lack of information and a bit of neglect. My myopia is degenerative, but with Dylan it won't be that way.
The Dr. told us that we should go every 6 months so she can monitor Dylan's process and his adaptation to the lenses. We will also have to do a yearly follow up of his evolution. I hope everything goes well.
Ya mandamos a hacer sus cristales y mañana iremos a escoger la montura. No les voy a negar que tengo mucho miedo, pero estoy segura de que mi hijo no tendrá el mismo tipo de miopía que yo. Lo ayudaré y estaré muy pendiente para que su miopía no empeore. Sé que todo estará bien porque ya sé qué hacer, cómo actuar y todo lo necesario para apoyarlo en este proceso. Siempre estaré con él en todo momento.

We already had his glasses made and tomorrow we will go to pick out the frame. I am not going to deny that I am very scared, but I am sure that my son will not have the same type of myopia that I have. I will help him and I will be very attentive so that his myopia does not get worse. I know that everything will be fine because I already know what to do, how to act and everything I need to support him in this process. I will always be with him at all times.
