THELORE.gif

Angelic Mandarin.png
A variety of the already beautiful mandarin fish, the Angelic Mandarinfish is said to be blessed by the magic of the sea. They swim in the most gorgeous tropical waters and live peaceful lives in harmony with all around them. It is said that the touch of an Angelic Mandarinfish has healing properties. And that if one sees an injured person in need, they will swim up and stare into your eyes. As if looking into your soul. If they deem you to be kind, they will heal your wounds.

ANGELIC MANDARIN STATS PER LEVEL

Triage 90px.png
Triage
Heals 1/3 of the friendly back-line monster's Maxed HP (rounded down) that has taken the most damage. Minimum heal is 2

Silence 90px.png
Silence
Reduces the Magic Attack of all enemy Monsters by 1 (Multiple Silence on your side of the field stack.)

Angelic Mandarin is a 3-mana Rare Tier Card that was added to the Water deck after the release of Chaos Legion Edition. At level 1 this card has 1 Range-attack, 2 Speed, & 5 HP which IMO is a decent low mana backline tank in Bronze League. If you want to stay in bronze you don't have to bother leveling this card. However, if you wanna play competitively in Silver League, I highly suggest having it at level 4 as it unlocks the Triage ability. You may also double down and have it at level 5 to get 2 Range-attack, 3 Speed, and 6 HP for Silver & Gold League. Maxing Angelic Mandarin unlocks Silence which is an excellent debuff ability that counters Magic-attack. Now let's watch some battles to showcase this card.

Battles Break Down

BATTLE #001

Having Angelic Mandarin in the Water Deck is a great thing. When paired with Wave Brood as a Taunt backline tank, they become a dynamic duo. Watch them work hand & hand tanking damage in the next two battles.

Rulesets In-play

Unprotected 90px.png
Unprotected
Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs.

RULESET TIPS

  • Do not bother using the following abilities because they don't give you an advantage; Protect , Piercing , Repair , and Rust.
  • Use a tank with high HP and support it with good Healing.

Taking Sides 90px.png
Taking Sides
Neutral Monsters may not be used in battle.

RULESET TIPS

  • There are no special tricks for this ruleset. Try to make a balanced team that is tanky, has damage variety, and a mix of buffs, debuffs and sustain.

Rulesets In-play

Aim True 90px.png
Aim True
Melee and Ranged attacks always hit their target regardless of speed differential and evade calculations.

RULESET TIPS

  • Abilities that increase evasion chances such as Blind, Flying, & Dodge as well as speed differential evade chances are negated in this ruleset.
  • Choose high-speed and high-health monsters which have high damage output combined.
  • Abilities below work great in this ruleset as counters;
    • Return Fire - When hit with a Ranged attack, monsters with this ability will inflict half of the damage (rounded up) back to the attacker.
    • Thorns - When hit with a Melee attack, deal 2 melee damage back to the attacker.
    • Retaliate - When hit with a Melee attack, monsters with this ability have a 50% chance of attacking back their attacker, with the possibility of a chain sequence with attack-type abilities.
  • Use attack debuff abilities if possible;
    • Demoralize - Reduces the Melee attack of all enemy Monsters by 1
    • Headwinds - Reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Monsters by 1

Lost Magic 90px.png
Lost Magic
Monsters with Magic attacks may not be used in battles.

RULESET TIPS

  • Abilities that counter Magic attacks are useless in this ruleset.

  • Focus on high speed and monsters with abilities like Flying, Dodge, Blind, Thorns, Backfire, Retaliate, and Shield.

  • Use attack debuff abilities if possible;
    • Demoralize - Reduces the Melee attack of all enemy Monsters by 1
    • Headwinds - Reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Monsters by 1

BATTLE #002

Rulesets In-play

Spreading Fury.png
Spreading Fury
All Monsters have the Enrage ability. Enrage monsters will have increased Melee attack and Speed when damaged. Values are multiplied by 1.5 (rounded up)

RULESET TIPS

  • Melee monsters benefit a lot in this ruleset. Try using monsters that have Sneak & Opportunity abilities. If their enrage gets activated, these monsters will deal tons of damage to your opponent's backline.
  • Placing a melee monster with Retaliate ability at the last position is a good counter-measure in general in this ruleset. When an enraged monster's retaliate ability triggers, it can potentially 1HitKO the attacker back.
  • Play around using the Piercing ability too as it will allow your enraged melee monster to pierce thru armor.

Lil League 90px.png
Little League
Only Monsters & Summoners that cost 4 Mana or less may be used in battles

RULESET TIPS

  • Try increasing your defense by using summoners that give +1 armor or +1 health.
  • Use monsters with at least 2 magic damage and 2 ranged damage.
  • Use attack debuff abilities as you see fit to reduce your opponent's damage output;
    • Demoralize - Reduces the Melee attack of all enemy Monsters by 1 (Multiple Demoralize on your side of the field stack.)
    • Headwinds - Reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Monsters by 1 (Multiple Headwinds on your side of the field stack.)
    • Silence - Reduces the Magic Attack of all enemy Monsters by 1 (Multiple Silence on your side of the field stack.)

Angelic Mandarin went into this battle without his BFF Wave Brood because Little League ruleset was in-play. So I have no choice but to use other low mana beefy monsters at the backline in anticipation of Sneak monsters. Since he's a bit tanky too, he would have no problem taking some damage from Sneak or Snipe monsters because he can heal himself by then.

BATTLE #003

Rulesets In-play

Armored Up 90px.png
Armored Up
All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat.

RULESET TIPS

  • Use magic attacks, but the opponent might do the same, so focus on HP. this ruleset buff is countered by the ability Rust or Wizard of Eastwood's summoner ability.
  • The ability Shatter is also good against this ruleset. Target's armor is destroyed when hit by an attack from monsters with Shatter.

Earthquake 90px.png
Earthquacke
Non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round.

RULESET TIPS

  • Use monsters with Flying or Heal, but if you are unable to choose such monsters, use monsters that have high HP and high damage.
  • Put up some armored monsters if unable to use the Flying ability. The damage from the earthquake ruleset is considered melee damage therefore, armor takes the hit first before your monster's HP.
  • Place your self-healing unit at the back so that it stays healthy even when the Earthquake has done enough damage to both sides.
  • The Summoner Brighton Bloom directly counters this ruleset.

If there's one thing you need to watch out for that counters Angelic Mandarin's support capability, that is the ability ** Affliction. But notwithstanding the counter for him in this match, Angelic Mandarin's stats are still decent enough to be useful. Besides, in this battle, he was able to sustain his BFF enough before the Affliction debuff got applied.

Affliction 90px.png
Affliction
When a Monster with Affliction hits a target, it has a 50% chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed.

CONCLUSION

IMO Modern Water Deck with the Summoner Kelya Frendul is at the top of the Meta right now. Not only the summoner but also the wide variety of offensive, defensive, utility, and support cards. Angelic Mandarin is one of the best amongst them which I often use whenever I could. Its synergy with Wave Brood is tough to beat. This duo is a pain in the neck for Range and Magic monster. That is why I highly recommend having this card in your collection.
