MWM|| Bandolero tejido a crochet
Greetings dear fellow NeedleWorkMonday members, I hope you are enjoying a nice and productive week, today I am back in the community to share with you a project that I have been knitting in my free time during the week. It is a beautiful bandolier in a deep blue color. Below I will tell you how the creation process has been.
First of all I want to tell you about this new material I am working with. It's a material that I ordered a week ago through Mercadolibre; it's called Colombian Macramé and it's a 2mm thick acrylic material. It comes in a great variety of beautiful and striking colors. I found this material excellent for weaving purses and bandoliers, because it is very resistant and does not have much elasticity which makes the weaving quite firm.
This project will be my pilot test to evaluate the profitability of a venture selling crochet shoulder bags and purses. The first aspect to evaluate is the quality of the material with respect to the cost. The second aspect is to evaluate the amount of material that a small bandolier takes up and estimate the amount that a larger one takes up. Once woven, I must test it and evaluate the resistance of the material according to the weight of the cell phone, which is what is usually carried in this type of bag. All these aspects will have a direct influence on the final price of the product and will allow me to compare it with the market prices in order to make the decision to produce or not.
The design I chose for this first project is a design with a front cover that closes with a magnetic clasp. For the lid part I chose a fantasy stitch that is made with single crochet. For the rest of the bag I decided to knit in single crochet so that the fabric would be tight and very firm. This pattern is knitted in one piece and then folded. I also added two side pieces that when sewn to the central piece give a little depth to the bag.
With respect to Colombian macramé, I must say that it has fulfilled my expectations, I consider it an excellent material for this type of projects because of its resistance and the intensity of its colors. I tell you that a few days ago I found a little purse that I had woven for my daughter when she was a little girl and it turned out to be made with this same material, only that at that time, I did not know the name of the material. The purse has kept its shape and color despite the time and the best of all is that it does not shed lint.
For now the material is approved, but I still need to evaluate other aspects that are also very important when it comes to investment and entrepreneurship. For now I will have fun knitting and testing designs and patterns. Thanks for reading, greetings and blessings.
