Thaisty Restaurant 🇹🇭 Miniature decorations with Thai street food, lamp resembling a submarine and atmospheric posters / Klimatyczna tajska restauracja w Warszawie

Thailand is famous for its delicious street food. When I went to a Thai restaurant in Warsaw today, thanks to its design, I felt a bit of a similar vibe. At times I had the impression that I was on a crowded street in Bangkok 😉 The tables in the restaurant were placed so close to each other, and the restaurant, due to its popularity, attracted so many people today that it was impossible not to hear what people at the next table were talking about and what they ordered to eat. When I was waiting in the queue to enter, the couple who was standing in front of me, the waitress, offered seats at a large table for several people. Fortunately, I got a separate table, in my favorite spot, a bit to the side of the room.

Tajlandia słynie z pysznego jedzenia ulicznego. Gdy wybrałam się dzisiaj do tajskiej restauracji w Warszawie dzięki jej designowi poczułam trochę podobny klimat. Momentami miałam wrażenie, jakbym znalazła się na zatłoczonej uliczce w Bangkoku 😉 Stoliki w restauracji były poustawiane tak blisko siebie, a restauracja za sprawą swojej popularności przyciągnęła dzisiaj tak dużo osób, że nie dało się nie usłyszeć o czym rozmawiają ludzie przy stoliku obok i co zamówili do jedzenia. Gdy czekałam w kolejce do wejścia, parze, która stała przede mną kelnerka zaproponowała miejsca przy dużym, kilkuosobowym stoliku. Na szczęście mi trafił się osobny stolik, w ulubionym miejscu, nieco z boku sali.

There were a lot of Thai posters on one of the walls. They were pasted densely next to each other, like the posters you sometimes see on the streets. Interesing form of street art.

Na jednej ze ścian przyklejonych było sporo tajskich plakatów. Naklejone były gęsto obok siebie, jak plakaty, które widzi się czasem na ulicach. Ciekawa sztuka uliczna, tzw. street art.

On the other wall there were pictures taken on Thai streets. Looking at them, I moved my thoughts to those areas for a moment. I've never been to Thailand, but I'd love to go there someday and try the street food there. One of the photos showed a train passing through the market. I have heard about it and I know that many people going to Bangkok want to see this market, as well as the floating market where shopping is done from sailing boats.

Z kolei na innej ścianie wisiały zdjęcia zrobione na tajskich ulicach. Patrząc na nie przeniosłam się na chwilę myślami w tamte rejony. Nigdy nie byłam w Tajlandii, ale bardzo bym chciała kiedyś tam pojechać i spróbować tamtejszego ulicznego jedzenia. Na jednym ze zdjęć widać było pociąg przejeżdżający przez targowisko. Słyszałam o tym i wiem, że wiele osób jadąc do Bangkoku chce zobaczyć ten targ, podobnie jak pływający targ, na którym zakupy robi się z płynących łódek.

Thaisty Restaurant is located in the center of Warsaw, at Bank Square, right next to the Ratusz Arsenał metro station. I came there by bike and had a nice ride, because today was like spring, and on the way back I drove past the Royal Castle and through the Old Town.

Restauracja Thaisty znajduje się w centrum Warszawy, na Placu Bankowym, tuż przy stacji metra Ratusz Arsenał. Ja przyjechałam tam rowerem i miałam przy okazji fajna przejażdżkę, bo dzisiaj było wiosennie, a wracając przejechałam obok Zamku Królewskiego i przez Stare Miasto.

Due to its location, the restaurant offers a beautiful view of the historic palace of the Government Revenue and Treasury Commission. But I was more interested in the inside. Numerous Thai decorations, which, combined with Thai music coming from the speakers and delicious Thai food, made me feel for a moment as if I was on a different continent, in Asia 😉

Ze względu na lokalizację z restauracji rozciąga się piękny widok na zabytkowy pałac Komisji Rządowej Przychodów i Skarbu. Ale mnie bardziej interesowało wnętrze. Liczne tajskie dekoracje, które w połączeniu z tajską muzyką wydobywającą się z głośników i pysznym tajskim jedzeniem sprawiły, że poczułam się przez moment, jakbym była na innym kontynencie, w Azji 😉

I don't quite understand the idea with the huge inscription on the ceiling: Cześć. It's a Polish greeting. I think a Thai greeting would be much better: ว่าไง! (Wa-ngai!)

Trochę nie rozumiem zamysłu z ogromnym napisem na suficie: Cześć. To polskie przywitanie. Myślę, że o wiele lepsze byłoby tajskie przywitanie: ว่าไง! (Wa-ngai!)

I was also a bit surprised by the huge mirrors hanging on the wall. When you sit facing them, you can see people who are behind you. You can see the whole crowd 😉 I think that without it you could have a greater sense of intimacy. Can't see people in the room. I guess it depends what you prefer.

Zaskoczyły mnie też trochę ogromne lustra wiszące na ścianie. Gdy siedzi się zwróconym w ich stronę, można zobaczyć ludzi, którzy znajdują się za plecami. Widać cały ten tłum 😉 Myślę, że bez tego można by mieć większe poczucie intymności. Nie widzieć osób z sali. Pewnie zależy, co kto woli.

However, I really liked the miniature decorations on one of the large tables, where, if you don't have a large group of friends, you sit together with strangers. There were miniature street food stands there. For example, bamboo baskets for Asian steamed dumplings, or a stand with various dishes, lots of plates and products needed to prepare dishes - meat, vegetables, etc. These miniature stands were in a glass container and looked like exhibits on display. Probably thanks to them it was more cool to eat meals at that table.

Za to bardzo spodobały mi się miniaturowe ozdoby na jednym z dużych stołów, przy których jeśli nie zbierze się duża grupa znajomych, siedzi się wspólnie z obcymi ludźmi. Znajdowały się tam miniaturowe stoiska ze street foodu. Np. bambusowe kosze na azjatyckie pierożki gotowane na parze, albo stoisko z różnymi daniami, mnóstwem talerzy a także produktów potrzebnych do przygotowania dań - mięsa, warzyw itp. Te miniaturowe stoiska znajdowały się w szklanym pojemniku i wyglądały jak eksponaty na wystawie. Pewnie dzięki nim milej jadło się posiłki przy tamtym stoliku.

The unusual lamps in the restaurant were great too. The one that looks like a submarine. Made of metal, industrial material with light bulbs visible inside.

Świetne były też nietypowe lampy w restauracji. Najbardziej ta wyglądająca jak łódź podwodna. Zbudowana z metalowego, industrialnego materiału z widocznymi wewnątrz żarówkami.

The menu card also deserves praise. Cool, modern graphic design. With a description of the chef of this restaurant in the middle of the menu. It is the Thai Chanunkan Duangkumma, who created the dishes according to Thai secrets. I like such dishes the most. The recipe is similar to those served in the country of origin. The menu was carefully described, and there were peppers with each dish, which informed about its spiciness.

Na pochwałę zasługuje również karta menu. Fajnie, nowocześnie zaprojektowana graficznie. Z sylwetką szefowej kuchni tej restauracji po środku karty dań. Jest nią Tajka Chanunkan Duangkumma, która stworzyła dania zgodnie z tajskimi tajnikami. Takie potrawy lubię najbardziej. Zbliżone recepturą do tych podawanych w kraju, z którego pochodzą. Menu było starannie opisane, a przy każdym daniu znajdowały się papryczki, które informowały o jego ostrości.

Look at this box. It contained cutlery and wooden chopsticks. It looks a bit like a treasure box found in the attic 😉 Or like the cover of some board game, e.g. the one from the movie Jumanji". Do you remember it? And what associations does this cutlery container evoke for you? Also a very ingenious detail, because cutlery could be served simply, e.g. in a bamboo basket, and someone came up with a great idea to make a box that stimulates the imagination and puts you in a good mood. This has a positive effect on the eating process.

Spójrzcie na tę szkatułkę. W niej znajdowały się sztućce i drewniane pałeczki. Wygląda trochę jak znaleziony na strychu pojemnik ze skarbami 😉 Albo jak okładka jakiejś gry planszowej, np. tej z filmu "Jumanji". Pamiętacie ją? A u Was jakie budzi skojarzenia ten pojemnik? Również bardzo pomysłowy szczegół, bo sztućce mogłyby być podane zwyczajnie, np. w bambusowym koszyczku, a ktoś wpadł na świetny pomysł, żeby zrobić taką szkatułkę, która pobudza wyobraźnię i wprawia w dobry nastrój. Wpływa to pozytywnie na proces jedzenia.

I ordered green curry with beef, bamboo shoots, beans and Thai eggplant, Tom-kha soup and homemade lemonade with passion fruit. I rarely eat Thai food, so eating this meal was like a journey into the unknown for me. Unknown flavors. A combination of sweet and salty flavors and exotic spices. I liked it very much and it wasn't even too spicy 😁 I'll come back to this restaurant and recommend it to you if you are in Warsaw and want to eat something tasty Thai.

Do jedzenia zamówiłam sobie zielone curry z wołowiną, pędami bambusa, fasolą i tajskim bakłażanem, zupę Tom-kha i lemoniadę robioną na miejscu, z dodatkiem marakui. Rzadko jem tajskie jedzenie, więc spożywanie tego posiłku było dla mnie jak podróż w nieznane rejony. Nieznane smaki. Połączenie słodkich i słonych smaków oraz egzotycznych przypraw. Bardzo mi smakowało i nawet nie było za ostre 😁 Jeszcze wrócę do tej restauracji i polecam wam ją, gdybyście byli w Warszawie i chcieli zjeść jakieś smaczne tajskie jedzonko.

Passion fruit lemonade was yummy! Probably the best lemonade I've ever drank in a restaurant. Delicious! 😋
