Recipe of Matar Paneer: A Delicious Indian Dish

Hey Everyone!!

Today, I’m excited to share my recipe for Matar Paneer, a dish that’s close to the heart of every Indian household. This flavorful and protein-rich dish is made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) and green peas, and it’s often prepared on special occasions. Let’s dive into the recipe!

Ingredients:

  1. Paneer (cut into long slices)
  2. Green peas (frozen or fresh)
  3. Onions (finely chopped)
  4. Tomatoes (finely chopped)
  5. Green chilies (finely chopped)
  6. Garlic-ginger paste
  7. Whole spices (cinnamon stick, cumin seeds, bay leaf)
  8. Ground spices (turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt)
  9. Oil
  10. Curd for gravy (1 cup)
  11. Fresh coriander leaves (for garnishing)

Steps to Prepare:

Step 1: Prepping the Ingredients

Start by preparing all the vegetables and spices. Chop the onions, tomatoes, and green chilies finely. Prepare garlic-ginger paste. Take the green peas out of the freezer and keep them ready in a bowl. Slice the paneer into long pieces.

Step 3: Building the Flavors

  1. Add the chopped onions to the pan and roast them until golden brown.
  2. Toss in the chopped green chilies and sauté for a minute.
  3. Add the tomatoes along with ground spices—turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Roast this mixture until the oil starts separating from the spices.

Step 4: Creating the Gravy

  1. Pour half a cup of water into the mixture and let it cook until the water evaporates. This step ensures all the spices blend together.
  2. Add the curd and stir well. Let it cook for a few minutes to create a rich and creamy gravy.

  2. Finally, add the paneer slices and let them simmer in the gravy for 2-3 minutes so they absorb all the flavors.

Thank you for stopping by. It's not spicy, you can avoid chillies if you don't want it to be spicy. So try it once and also let me know whenever you try it 😉.

Thank you for mentioning the rules @foodiesunite.

Well I was not new to Foodie Bee Hive. I used to post recipes in the past also. But if the rules are updated, I will try to follow each of them in next community post.
