Starbound β a hardcore survival adventure, part 4 π±π±π±
In my last post The Doomed One left the starter system, joined forces with a peacekeeping bounty hunter and landed on a desert planet to explore before partaking in her first bounty. On that planet she discovered a compound of Big Ape worshippers who gave her quite a few quests to rescue various people and kill an evil-doer who lurked within the midst of a sewer.
She had just discovered that sewer and was making her descent. π¬
It is time to see how she fares and if this will be the end of her journey or not!
I slowly descend deeper into the sewer. Taking expert care by placing dirt over toxic pools for safety and utilising my wooden platforms for a safe journey into these horrid depths.
Surrounded by some slimes, poop and a muck monster, I find one of the people I'm here to save.
To my chagrin, I discover that she belongs to an escort quest. I need to go and take her home, then come back, and continue questing in the sewers. Ughhh. I wish I could tell her to stay there, stay safe, and I'll be back for her in a few minutes. But no. She keeps following me. Teleporting to me when I try to block her in somewhere.
There is no choice. I have to take her home.
Unfortunately, it turns out that creatures attack the person I'm escorting!
Desperate to save my Big Ape friend, I valiantly attack all the beasties and defend her from the doom that they wished to deliver.
Until a raging bull-like creature charged over and disintegrated her in one hit.
Distracted by the popup window, telling me that my friend had died, I didn't realise the beast was still alive. I thought I had killed it at the same time as she died.
I was wrong.
It had run up the cliff then turned back around to charge me.
I couldn't heal myself in time.
The Doomed One had died.
But at least she had died a hero, trying to rescue a Big Ape worshipper and bring her home to safety.
πππ
The Doomed One, a person doomed from the very start, had met her demise.
But that's okay! I had so much fun in this little tiny adventure, that I'm going to start a new game! π Not hardcore this time, just a normal survival game. It's so good to finally be able to play this with no stuttering or frame drops or anything.
Who'da thought that the solution was to change to the 32-bit client instead of using the normal 64-bit client? Such an easy fix.
Looking forward to sharing my new adventure with you all once I start it up! π

Until next time! π

Seems like a good challenge. The Doomed one is doomed for eternity? I might try it one day. Added to wishlist for now.
The Doomed One was just the name I gave her. π Since she was a hardcore character, when she died... she has died forever!
It's a good game if you enjoy sandboxes. One of the best sandboxes out there in my opinion.
Ah! Okay. She is bound to be dead...lol
Oh, I dig them. So, many to play in just one lifetime.
!PIZZA
at first I was like ooooooh.
then it ended with an awwwwww.
killed via a popup window. mann those popup windows are deadly.
hehehe. glad to see a fellow 'hardcore' enjoyer. π
I don't mind hardcore every now and then xD butttt, my next game will definitely be a normal game I think, non-hardcore.
Or, maybe I'll try another hardcore one. And be more "realistic" as in "don't travel at night when there are more hostile mobs around", haha! Might survive longer. XD
haha
'might'

It's really unbelievable. The Doomed One didn't deserve to die. RIP, little buddy. See you in the next episode. Don't forget to get your revenge on that bull ππ.
Yep, RIP She Who Was Doomed! π
She won't be coming back for another episode, for she has died, lol. And the worlds are procedurally generated! So if I start a new game, I'll never be able to get my revenge. π
Alas.
Oh I thought you can go here again and kill that bull. That's sad.
I didn't mean she is going to come back. I mean another character XD
Un minuto de silencio por el condenado...
ΒΏSoy el ΓΊnico que piensa que este juego es igualito a terraria? parece un terraria solo que con mayor detalle en el estilo grafico, de verdad que el desierto de los dos juegos es muy parecido.
When I first played it, I considered it "Terraria in Space."
But it's really a lot MORE than Terraria. I personally prefer this one. π In Terraria, you have the one world and monsters to fight within that world. In Starbound, it's an entire galaxy with quests, a story, you have your spaceship and can upgrade it and fully crew it, and it feels as though a full, living universe.
That's interesting, I didn't know that, when people are right you have to give it to them, in this case you have it because if you tell me that it is a universe full of life, it is completely different from terraria, but no one will deny that the deserts are identical π
They're not really identical. π This is just one of the deserts. In my new game, I'm in another desert right now and well....
It's quite different! π With pink sand and green sandstone.
Right, it adds more colors π .
I really don't see the identical, but okay, lol.
Oh, I'm sorry hear that the Doom One was doomed indeed. Looks like it's permadeath. My condolences.
She died trying to save others. The Honourable One!
Yep, permadeath! But it's all good, she died trying to save another, just like a proper hero would. π
I'm starting a new playthrough soon. Now that I'm a bit more "in tune" with the game I feel like I might do a bit better next time. π
Hopefully she will be the Flourishing One, a worthy successor to the Doomed One.
