Path of Exile — Settlers of Kalguur — Zooming through red maps!

It's been just over a week since the new Path of Exile league began and I've been zooming through with flying colours! 😁

Well, I mean... "zooming"... not as fast as some other people out there who, you know, hit level 100 on the very first day, defeat all the Uber Bosses on the very first day, who have absolute no life whatsoever... but, "zooming" for someone like me. xD

I still haven't tried the new Divine Retribution skill gem that has been introduced this league. I was interested in it at first because I was envisioning a pure blocking build with automated attacks whenever my character blocked... but apparently it can't do that.

Whicchhhh makes me less interested in it.

I'll look at what other people have come up with for it at some point, but at the moment I'm just really interested in my templar. 😊

I had originally ascended him to be an Inquisitor, but I decided to re-ascend him into a Heirophant instead.

I'm still using the Storm Brand ability, but I've now paired it with Cold Snap of Power... and woah! It's fantastic! I've got it so Storm Brand shocks everything, Cold Snap then annihilates everything, all the while I have Arcane Cloak automated and I'm standing inside a nice frosty shield of energy.

Tis pretty good. I'm enjoying it!

I've been going through the Atlas and its associated maps, trying to get all the passive points for it. I'm up to 93 skill points of the 115 available!

I've just hit Tier 16 Red Maps, and once I sort out some issues with the speed of my mana regeneration I think I'll be ready to start some further progression.

In saying that, I've just defeated the Searing Exarch and the Eater of Worlds with no real fuss, so who knows, I could probably wing my way through the other things. We'll see how it all goes!

The main league mechanic for Settlers of Kalguur is, of course, Kingsmarch — the city we're building which will apparently be a city in the upcoming Path of Exile 2.

I'm really enjoying this little mechanic. I get to go out into maps and find ore and things for my miners to grab, we build up the city, send off shipments and trade with other ports, I actually got my first Divine Orb thanks to those shipments!

...And then spent it pretty quickly. xD I needed to buy a necklace that cost about 4 divine orbs... but I'm slowly getting my currency back up. Which will swiftly go again as I need to buy some very expensive jewels that'll help with my mana.

Thankfully as the league progresses, more people are becoming aware of the NPC that serves as an in-game currency trader. It was hard to find trades on it at first, but now it's soooo much quicker than the old way — whispering randos and hoping they deign to grace you with their presence.

Luckily I'm finding quite a few things to sell so I got my currency back up quickly. Then when I got my next Divine I quickly bought some gloves since my old ones were corrupted and I couldn't enchant them with Searing Exarch/Eater of Worlds things.

With my current set-up, I'm doing about 2 million DPS which is really nice — however, the build that I'm following can reach around 12 million "budget" and 16 million with higher-end items.

What I've got at the moment is nice enough though and will tide me over til I can afford the gems needed. Apparently, when it comes to most PoE Build Guide Creators, "Budget" simply means items that don't cost upwards of 30 Divine Orbs... in my mind, "budget" means chaos orbs only, but alas.

I will admit that I gave up on farming Syndicate mobs for a crafting ability though. I wanted to get "trigger socketed spells" when a condition is met... but it just never dropped. I fought so many encounters. Defeated Catarina so many times and reset the Syndicate so I could try again... and it just never dropped.

Not sure if they removed it, or I just had really bad luck.

It doesn't matter now though. I'm using two Void Battery unique wands which can't have crafted things on them, so, oh well. That waste of time is over and done with now xD

All in all, I'm pleased with my progression so far. 😊 Even if Jun and her Syndicate sucked this time around.
