Let's Play: The Tenants! ~ [part 2]
I began my landlord career just a few days ago! My aunt gifted me a property and I've been doing my darndest to become the greatest landlord the city has ever seen.
I have to start small before I'm big though.
My one property is in the slums, occasionally infested with cockroaches, and I'm performing small renovations on other people's properties just to slowly increase my bank balance to one day purchase another house to rent out.
First of all, though, my sole tenant in my sole house suggested we upgrade the place. I was very pleased that she had suggested that because I can't renovate the property while the tenant is in place and I was preparing to kick her out just so I could rearrange the place.
Because she suggested this, I didn't have to kick her out! xD
Unfortunately though, I soon realised this renovation was only the kitchen and living area when I would rather do the entire place. Alas, I did it anyway and figured I'd remodel the place entirely at a later date.
It is only a crap-hole in the slums, after all. It doesn't have to be too fancy. I'll probably just sell it once I can afford better properties!
While watching my tenant make use of her new kitchen, an ELITE job popped up! I've seen a couple of these pop up in the jobs listings but they vanish pretty quickly and I was already on other jobs at the time... so I was finally able to grab an elite job.
The client wanted his mansion completely remodeled with a $75,000 budget. He would pay me just under 12k upon completion, with a bonus if I finished it within 12 days.
I sent my uncle over to the property to perform the initial clean up.
And I also instructed him to refurbish any broken furniture and bring it back to me for future purposes. The client won't mind! xD
With that done, I sent my uncle away and rubbed my hands together. It was time to smash some walls and build some new ones and work out how I was going to do this job.
Turns out it was massive.
The client wanted a security room, a drug den, a manufacturing area for said drugs, and dayum! I had no idea I had signed up to work for a drug baron. 😱 Now I really needed to do a good job. And to keep my mouth shut too. 🤣
It all seemed to be coming together nicely! Thankfully time is slowed all the way down to 0.25x which is nice... I was a bit worried about completing this entire mansion in 12 days but thanks to the slowed time I didn't have to fret so much.
Without a word or awkward glance, I completed the client's drug den, complete with safe and armoury. I carefully wiped all fingerprints off the entire area too. xD
By the time I got to the last area — the living space — I was practically out of funds and had to sell a few things I had placed and replace them with slightly cheaper things.
I may have made the bedroom and bathroom too large, and the living area was a bit squished, but it would have to do. I'm sure the client would be pleased. I hoped the client would be pleased, haha!
Thankfully he was. I got paid my fee and also some hush-hush money. And I now had $76,000 at my disposal! 😁
I didn't want to spend the money just yet, and I have a quest to babysit some other landlord's tenants, so I wanted to do that first and get my LandLord Points up a little bit. So I grabbed a few odd jobs to renovate other people's properties and keep filling up my bank account while I waited for a fellow landlord to go off on holiday.
After completing a job where a client asked for a small fantasy statue in her new art room, then berated me for daring to put a small fantasy statue in her new art room, I saw a new job listed on my app.
"I've got a couple of noisy tenants who are giving me a headache. Looking for someone to help me take care of them."
I wasn't sure if they meant "take care" as in look after, or "take care" as in... encourage them to leave the premises forever more. I accepted the job though because I needed a tenant babysitting job to progress my current goal.
He didn't seem so bad. His profession was a Butcher, and he happened to be an alcoholic too. He seemed neat and tidy though, and just stood at the fridge for most of the day drinking.
Soon, however... while I wandered off to do other things, disaster struck.
His bathroom was mysteriously flooded and the electricity had gone out in the entire property. Probably for the best considering the bathroom was flooded, to be honest, but since I was looking after him I hastened to get some professionals into the property to fix these issues......
....while the maniac just sat there on the arm of his couch, basking in the disrepair around him.
Soon my babysitting duties were over and his real landlord took control of him once more.
Farewell ye drunk. I'll remember your face to make sure you don't come upon my future apartments.
With my babysitting quest finished I got given a new quest. To buy my first non-slum apartment. It was at a set location... which kind of annoys me. I was hoping to pick and choose my apartments. But then, I can always sell them later if I don't like them and buy other ones.
The game is linear but not linear at the same time. I like to think that this first one to buy was selected for me just for tutorial purposes and I'll have freedom later.
I also got access to the banking loan system which I have no interest in at the moment. I'll work my way up and gather the funds the slow and honourable way and not the quick and paying interest way. 😅 I did have $81,000 though so I thought I'd try my luck at the auction for this new property.
My Uncle Santa went into the property and evaluated it. He reckoned it was only worth around $48,000 but a few extra thousand wouldn't hurt, it would make a profit over time. So I got him to bid on it for me and I won it for $52,000!
If only I could buy a fully furnished place that cheap here in Australia. 😝
I now had two properties to look after. The one that is currently tenanted and my new one that I needed to renovate and make more liveable.
Before working on the new property I decided to do some extras to my current property.
It was located in the slums so I installed some security. The toilet and fridge had already been stolen once so I made sure to install security cameras in the toilet too. To capture video of possible future toilet thieves, not my tenant. 👀
And then my tenant asked for a bedroom makeover. She was suddenly into music and wanted to become a musical genius. So I gave her a bedroom a rockstar would be pleased with!
With my first property and first tenant all sorted for the time being, it was time to work on my new apartment. First, though, I needed some more money. I wanted to make this new apartment a stunning masterpiece!
Until next time! 😊

You started from the bottom and now you're up there😎😎
I see you're played with the 10's of thousands now not the 100's anymore 😎😎😂😂
Haha! I'm still at the bottom lol. 😅
Can't imagine that😂😂
Ohhhhhhhhhhh This looks like a ton of fun!! Is this a Steam game?
It is a lot of fun!! 😄 I'm really enjoying this little game. Yes! It is on Steam!! You can find it here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1009560/The_Tenants/ 😁
It says I already own it LOLL
well guess I best go look at it after I download it :D
Too Funny!
Haha! 😅 That's hilarious! I hope you like it! 😁
I'm finding it to be similar to the Sims but not similar at the same time... like, imagine the Sims if you didn't have to look after their showering and toileting and feeding, and just gave them a nice home to live in and decorate other people's homes for money. 😅
It must have come with a bundle LOLL. I had never even downloaded it :D
I've never seen this game before but it's very interesting! I mean owning property, designing other people's houses etc is very good. But I sure wouldn't want to redesign a drug lord's house. I'm glad you did a good job because you might have to pay with your organs lol. I hope those cameras are really for robbers 😂.
Yes, the cameras are definitely for the robbers..... ...🤣
It's a good little game!! Very muchly recommend if in need of a time waster or time consumer. xD
