[Let's Play] Stardew Valley - Humble Beginnings
It's been a long time since I played Stardew Valley. So many updates have come to pass, so much new content... I decided that it was high time I hopped back into it and start up a new farm!
Do not be alarmed. If you're following my Minecraft adventure -- I have not yet died! I just felt like a change of scenery. 😅
I'm playing with a grand idea in mind. I wish for my land to become the greatest vineyard in all the realm!
Previously when I played I just dabbled in a bit of everything. A couple of animals, a couple of crops, a couple of barrels, etc. Just whatever. This time I have GRAND ASPIRATIONS! I will become the queen of all that is boozy.
I should also note here that I am playing completely unmodded. Since there have been sooooo many updates and changes since I last played, I thought it'd be best to have a clean run. 🙂
May I introduce you to Miss Moscato, new owner of the once-renowned Fermented Farms. She will revive the farm to its former glory and make a motza for her future family!
As you can see, the farmland is in dire shape. Strewn with weeds, overgrown with trees, unkempt and uncared for for decades! Miss Moscato has a huge journey in front of her.
We spent the first couple of days roaming around town, talking to all the townies, picking random flowers and things. And then the fisherman gave me a spare fishing rod and I spent a few days doing nothing but fishing!
As far as I'm concerned, fishing is pretty much the best way to make money in the early game and if I want to get started on my wine empire and start growing fruit trees and things - I need to get on it, stat!
Also, I like buying a bunch of strawberries ready for next Spring. NEED MONEY.
I'm literally spending this entire first season being a fisherwoman. I even found a book I've never seen before! After investigating, it has a 2% drop chance after you hit level 5 in Fishing and you can find a few of them. Subsequent discoveries will earn you more fishing XP. Sounds good!
With all the money I'm earning, I'm planning on buying a bunch of fruit trees for Autumn. Since they take 28 days to grow, I figured I'd best buy them at the start of Summer and they'll start producing immediately come Autumn.
Of course, as well as all of this fishing, I'm speaking with various villagers and trying to make friends. I have to remember that I'm playing unmodded thus I don't have Pillar of the Community active which would normally make me fly through the friendship and make it so friendship points don't decay over time.
Will need to keep on it. Everyone must like me. Everyone!
Finally, the first day of summer shone bright upon the fair fields of Fermented Farm.
I had enough money to get 3 pomegranate trees, 3 apple trees, the last bag expansion, and some assorted seeds for general farming purposes. Overall I don't want to be a farmer but a vineyard owner, but for the time being I'll level up the skill and store food away for my eventual kitchen.
Although it won't last, I thought that I'd lay some pavement down just to tidy up things a little. It's all going to get removed later on, but for now it'll do.
Now I just need to wait for these trees to grow! Which will take the entire season. xD And come next season, my character will be showering in fallen fruit.
This season I need to focus on some mining and getting further down into the mines. I fished the entirety of Spring -- to the extent I reached level 10 in it! -- and now I need ore and stuff for crafting and upgrading tools.
Catch you next time! 😊🌱🌷
Well, I like the idea of focusing the farm on a single product; in part, at the beginning it may be difficult, but in the long run it is easier than having so many crops, wheat, fish, animals, everything becomes a real problem.
I love how you narrate your game, the needs and desires haha it is clear that you really wanted to buy strawberries
Thanks! 😅 Those strawberries are important, haha!
Stardew Valley is a totally beautiful game where the adventure has no end, especially with the thousands of secrets it holds.
It is! 😊 And there really are lots of secrets to discover - I haven't played since it first released so there's sooooo much new stuff that's been added since then!
This game teaches to always take it step by step when farming
