Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I've never been a "CoD Kiddy."

I have absolutely no interest in playing multiplayer shooty games and listening to prepubescent children screech about how they're going to do things to my face. Playing multiplayer shooty games with my partner and friends though, and screeching, "Wah!!" into the mic whenever a 12 year old starts crying? I can do that.

Well, no. I don't do that. I turn off all voice related things so I don't have to hear randoms and they don't have to hear me. The only people I talk to are in our little call on Discord. And sometimes, just sometimes, they "Wah!" at people. And I cackle like a lunatic because I'm childish and think it's hilarious. xD

20221111193208_1.jpg

I'm getting ahead of myself though. Let's begin again: I've never been a "CoD Kiddy."

Back in the day I loved Unreal Tournament and Halo multiplayer-with-friends, and I loved the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer against the Reaper/Cerberus forces, and Destiny 2 is pretty dang fun too. For me, though, I've never really been big into "war" shooters.

20221111211545_1.jpg

Ever since CoD:MW2 released though, my partner's been playing through the campaign and most nights he and our friends jump into the multiplayer and I get to hear all about how many people are hacking in the game and how many people are camping and who's game has crashed this time.

I mean, all of that is stuff that doesn't sound very appealing. I don't want to play with hackers, and I don't want my game to crash non-stop... but camping? I can camp. I love me some sneaky, sneaky sniper play.

20221111194040_1.jpg

First I went through all the characters you can play as and tried to decide on one for each team I could be on. I really want Calisto and to unlock her I need to get 5 headshot kills in a single match.

I am an absolute noob, fresh to this game, never played it before, and I have no idea what I'm doing. I can only hope to unlock her at some point. xD

20221111214810_1.jpg

As a fresh noob to the game, I'm surprised I got any kills at all. But in one map we did last night I actually managed 9 somehow. It was the same name a couple of times. Honestly, it was probably another noob just like me. 😅

In one match I got three headshot kills! I need five though. But it is possible, even for a noob like myself. I just need to get immersed and focus and let my sniper rifle do its thing.

It does get discouraging though. Like, my partner and friends are all used to PvP shooters. And when we get to the scoreboard at the end of the match and they've all got 20 kills and there's me with 2 kills and 20 deaths... feels a bit bad. But I can only get better... right? xD

20221112073815_1.jpg

So I decided to play a little bit by myself. I figured free-for-all would be best so I wouldn't be on a team, making them lose because I'm the one dying constantly. xD

20221112074441_1.jpg

A quick screenshot because ain't nobody got time for screenshots when there's enemies about.

20221112074905_1.jpg

And the result!

I mean, at least I didn't come last. 😂

So I tried again.

20221112080247_1.jpg

Still didn't come last at least.

I think I just really need to get to know the maps and work out the best places to be a camper. xD Remember to actually throw my grenades. Being a twitch-shooter from my old Unreal Tournament days is helpful, so I need to harness old habits.

I think that I also just need some more practice, and then I might be able to play with my group without feeling like a total, complete, detrimental noob. 😅 Of course they don't make me feel like that, IIIIII make myself feel like that with my silly brain, but it'll be cool to get a lot better and actually deliver when playing as a team.

More practice!

Until next time! 🙂🎮

Sniper is my go to! Although I usually don't do the traditional camping, as there are just to many disadvantages with it. I'll usually stay in one spot and get a few kills then move to another one, unless I'm playing an objective base mode and my camping spot has a good line of the objective, and I can provide my team cover.

I haven't played MW2 yet, and honestly can't wait to! The last time I played a COD game on a computer was back in the original MW2 days. I can't wait to whip out a sniper when I get MW2, and see just how much better aiming is with a mouse!

I think I just really need to get to know the maps and work out the best places to be a camper.

That is the worse thing about being a sniper on new maps, it's finding those sweet spots that offer good vantage points, and are generally easy to defending.

That's what I've been doing too 🙂 tbh, there really don't seem to be any good 'permanent' camping areas to settle in on any of the maps I've experienced yet so far. There's a couple of maps I've now been in too where there are no spots whatsoever and I find myself using my pistol more than my sniper as I run around like a loony, haha.

I think just knowing the maps at all is key, I've run around in circles a few times because I don't know where I'm going and when playing with my group they'll be all, "In the kitchen!! In the courtyard!! In the tennis courts!! Down the long arse hallway!" and I've got no clue. XD XD

Yessssssssssss! 😁 Honestly, I have no idea how people play shooters with a controller. I guess that's where aim-assist really comes in handy but it looks so weird and cumbersome slowly moving the joystick around to aim.

It really is. Whenever I played COD with Crossplay enabled and went up against someone on the PC, I got completely wrecked. It's slow and without any aim assist it's a huge pain. I've played a few FPSs on the PC so far and love how much smoother aiming is.

Usually what I will do is have a sniper, and a submachine gun, that way there if I can't get to my camping spots, I can still cause some havoc. Or it even comes in useful for those games I do really good and run out of ammo completely for the sniper.

At the moment my loadout only allows me the one primary weapon and a small side-arm if I want to use better perks. 🙁

I can change one of my perks to allow use of two primary weapons!! But I haven't levelled up enough yet to enable choosing the cool stuff in my own custom package. I'll definitely be changing it up so I can use a sniper and something much better once I level up enough to unlock these things!! 😁

I couldn't imagine playing a shooter on a phone. 😅 But it is really fun; more fun than what I was expecting having never played before.

I've always liked COD games, just a few days ago I heard about the release of MW2 even though I didn't even know it was in development or something like that. It looks attractive, although I hope it does not pass some "Vanguard 2" or some downgrade that makes it inferior to MW 2019, but what can I say if I have not yet had the opportunity to play the last game of the saga, I hope you enjoy it. Greetings!

Hopefully it doesn't! It is made by different developers to that particular installment though so here's hoping it stays decent. 🙂

Chances are that it was also another noobie xD.. Laughs

However the more you grind away the better and easier the game gets. (ofcourse this you know!)

I myself have no time for screaming kids in video games xD So on mute they go! It looks fun though!

However I will be raking in some Albion today, have fun blasting faces away!

I felt like I was getting better! I played for a few hours yesterday in free-for-all, getting used to the maps and gameplay, and I felt like I was improving slightly. But then Skill Based Match Making killed me when I joined my friends last night. xD I was kind of hoping to just jump right in and be a godly player immediately LOL!! 🤣

So many people are playing Albion at the moment! 😅 Enjoy!! 😊

I played the Beta quite a bit and I think its the best CoD in a long time. Yet I haven't bought it because I think 70€+Season Pass is a bit too much ^^

It is quite expensive. I would've bought it sooner if it wasn't so pricey, but everyone was having fun without me and I wanted to join in, haha. 😑

You're off to a great start I'd say, the stats show it. Slowly you'll pick up the pace and get even better, but the lobbies will also be tougher then, thanks to SBMM.

Yet, I'd say COD MW 2 is good place to start for anyone who's interested in COD. Because this is some sort of reboot you can say, in terms of gameplay, movement and gun mechanics at least. And it will be this way for at least 2 to 3 more years I'd say.

What you'll really enjoy is the Campaign mode. Yes, this time the story and direction is a odd for COD, but I say it's made that way just to direct us towards a more hardcore episode of MW 2 or maybe even MW 3.

Yeah I've heard a lot about the Skill Based Match Making... I was having a lot easier of a time when I was just by myself in free-for-all being matched up against other noobs like myself. Then I join a party with my partner and friends and suddenly I'm surrounded by elites.

I got from an average of 15 kills solo, to 1 kill and 30 deaths partied. 😅

I didn't really buy it for the campaign. I watched my partner play it and that's enough for me, I just wanted to be social with our group.

Exactly. Absolutely hate this, it just ruins the vibe.

I just wanted to be social with our group.

Me and the mates are the same, we join up around night time to play a little, hangout, and also trash talk for a bit. 😂

I turn off all voice related things so I don't have to hear randoms and they don't have to hear me.

I’m the same way now, didn’t used to be though. I enjoy playing with my brother, but that’s about it.

Glad you’ve finally given this a try, 7-7 in free for all isn’t too bad. Sounds to me like you may have been camping some 😜

Camping isn't as easy as I thought it would be. 😅 My partner's always whinging about people lying down in a corner somewhere, and when I try it it's like they know I'm there. They sprint through the door, aim down at me and blast me in the face before I can react. So I find myself running around like a loony more than camping at the moment.

Third person mode I found to be a whole lot easier to do good in. When you get used to peaking every single corner and never sprinting and always being pre-aimed… that’s when you start dominating.

I am not really a fan of the new COD games, they just don't give me the satisfaction that the original MW series gave. They just feel so washed down and artificial. Mired with microtransactions.

I've skipped all COD games in the last 6-7 years.

I've never been a fan of any CoD game, haha. To me, they were all, "Ugh, look, another war shooter. Why is there a new one every, single, year?"

Now I'm playing one. 😅 Haha.

My partner soothes me, haha. He's all, "Well, you killed a few people! And it's skill based match making so you're facing tougher people!! So that's good!!!!!"

So I guess I'm doing okay for a noob. XD

Exactly, you shouldn't compare yourself with good players, you are good for a noob and in the future you will be good for a pro.
