Another Hogwarts Legacy Screenshot Showcase!
Just a couple of weeks ago, Hogwarts Legacy released three days early for those who bought into the Deluxe Edition and I got right to work exploring this new open world game and marveling at all the new things I could take pretty screenshots of.
In that first screenshot showcase, I tried my best to make sure none of the screenshots I shared had possible spoilers in them since the game hadn't "officially" released just yet. By spoilers, I refer to story elements of course. There were no enemies in the screenshots, none of the magic involved in the central plotpoint, no story areas.
That will change in this screenshot showcase. 👀
As of writing up this particular showcase (I have a massive backlog — I'm planning on posting this as an intermission between the Dragon Ages), I have 22 hours in the game and I don't feel as though I'm anywhere near the end of the story. Which is fantastic.
I read an "advice" snippet on my first day of playing that stated not to even bother exploring until you can ride your broomstick and unlock things, and I didn't take heed of it, naturally. Well it's only now, 22 hours in, that I've unlocked the ability to pick locks. Now I get to backtrack everywhere I've been and open up all the things I couldn't before, haha!
Despite having to backtrack to areas I've already been just to open chests and doors and things, I haven't really explored much at all. I know, I know. I've explored a lot but I haven't explored at all? Makes no sense.
But there are sooooo many areas I haven't been. There are ruins everywhere. Dark wizard camps. Spider dens. Trials to complete. The map is pretty dang large!! And I've only unveiled a small bit of it. And in that small bit, there are secrets I haven't found. This is a good 80hr+ game and I'm down for the entire thing. More games need to have an excessive amount of playable hours.
Hogwarts itself is also so incredibly huge. Easy to get lost in. Easy to stumble across areas you've never been to before regardless of how long you've been playing.
The above screenshot across the water, I wasn't actually expecting to turn out so nice. I was doing a quest where I needed to swim across the lake and dive into the water to find something for some girl... then I turned Ansel on and was just... "Wow. That's NICE!" and quickly took the screenie, haha.
Okay, enough jabbering. Time for a screenshot dump!!
Whew. Okay. That's enough for now. 😅
I was thinking of only doing one more screenshot showcase after this, but considering I still have sooooooo much to explore in the game, something tells me that I might end up doing a couple more.
The game is just too pretty not to share. This is like Cyberpunk 2077 all over again. xD Screenshot showcases for everyone!!!
Until next time!! ✨⚔️😊
I went a bit crazy with the game. Think I'm around 80 hours now 😆.
Glad to see you are still having fun. There is lots to do!
80 hours is a good chunk xD It's a great game! I'm looking forward to jumping back into it soon — I'm fixated on Dragon Age at the moment though. 😅 I'm three quarters of the way through Inquisition now, so I'll be back to Hogwarts in no time. 😁
Apparently there's been a decent patch that improves performance, and my partner's PC is handling the game a lot better now... it'll be nice to run through the castle without framedrops. What I'd reeeeally like though is an nvidia update so Ansel stops crashing the game every 20 or so screenies. 😑
I hate Harry Potter, I tried watching his movies a while back and didn't get past the 3rd one, but damn, this game looks amazing!
I'm not a huge Harry Potter fan haha. I couldn't read the books... even when I was a kid, they were too childish for me. I wanted blood and guts and demonic possessions in my stories, not wholesome wizardry. I thought the movies were alright but they're not my favourite.
The game though is great! xD Turns out I like the universe, I just don't like the Harry Potter story in particular.
incredible. i need a new videocard.
I've never been a fan of the Harry Potter saga, I'm more of a fan of Tolkien's work in general, but seeing this wonderful game out there (great Screenshots, by the way) I think it's a good time to start soaking a bit of the Potter Universe :D
Cheers and excellent Showcase post, I saved the second image, the one of the scribe ;)
I'm more of a Stephen King, Shaun Hutson, Raymond E. Feist type of person myself 😅 but I do love the Lord of the Rings world too. I ignored Harry Potter for aaaaaages because I didn't think I'd be that interested in it. My partner made me watch it all just last year, haha!
It's a fantastic game though. And beautiful too. I love just roaming around taking photos. 😅 I'm glad you like them enough to have saved one!! 😊
Great. I like those authors, you look like someone with whom it's very interesting to have a good conversation :)
Cheers 😅 I'm not too sure about interesting, but I can babble a lot!
The honest rating that would give it?
If I was being critical:
Facial animations can be a bit weird. There is a memory leak after you play for a few hours and the game needs to be restarted. There were performance optimisation issues but they've been fixed, hooray! There is a little bit of "woke" in the game in the form of your character being called "they" instead of he or she and there's a chick with a dude's voice. You can't be an evil person.
Other than that, I love it. Graphics are beautiful, music and sounds are nice and immersive, there is a decent variation in enemies to fight, A LOT to do and not just repetitive questing, story seems good so far, combat is fun. The game immediately hooks you right from the start and interests you.
So me personally.. I'd probably give it an 8.5/10
If my rating were to be improved they would need to improve the character creator, get rid of the "they" nonsense, and allow me to be the evil Slytherin child I dream to be.
