Oh my bounty.

When I think about my favorite chocolate, it takes me back to those nostalgic days when my brother, who lives in Lagos, would visit and spoil us with packs of different chocolates. He would always come home with Twix, Maltesers, Bounty, Mars, and Snickers, which normally brings an extra dose of joy and excitement to the house. For me, it was like receiving a treasure chest of sweets.

I loved every single one of those chocolates except Snickers. Don’t get me wrong, Snickers is a favorite for many, but for me, the taste of peanuts combined with chocolate was never appealing. The bitterness, mixed with the crunch of peanuts, just didn’t work for my taste buds.

My siblings, however, had no complaints, and I was always happy to hand over my Snickers to them while I enjoyed the other treats.

In those days , we had this habit of storing the chocolates in the freezer, and that was when I discovered that chocolate tastes best when it's hard and cold. Biting into frozen chocolate adds a delightful crunch, and normally makes the experience even better. The truth is, I loved chocolates so much that I often couldn’t resist sneaking one more whenever I passed by the freezer.

However, among all those treats, one chocolate stood out for me and has remained my favorite since then and that is Bounty.

IWrapped in blue and white paper, Bounty holds a delicious surprise - a rich milk chocolate outside with a soft, sweet coconut filling inside. For me, it’s the perfect balance of flavors. The combination of creamy chocolate and refreshing coconut creates a taste that’s usually satisfying and unique.

What I love most about Bounty is its coconut flavor. It’s not too overwhelming but just right, which makes each bite feel indulgent. The mix of coconut and milk is unmatched, and no other chocolate i have tasted has ever captured my heart quite like Bounty. In fact, I doubt any ever will.

Nowadays, I don’t eat as many chocolates as before , because of the high cost of buying them in my country and also partly because I’m trying to reduce my sugar intake for health reasons. But even that hasn’t lessened my love for Bounty.

Whenever I do treat myself, Bounty is always my first choice. I often even always joke that if someone wants to get on my good side, or even propose to me, they should just show up with a few packets of Bounty. Whether they’re my type or not, Bounty is the fastest way to win my heart!

Bounty will always be my go-to chocolate, not just for its taste but for the fond memories it brings back.
