Malaria my biggest weapon.

Right from my childhood days the only disease that has seem to always haunt me has been Malaria.

My body has zero tolerance for this disease and each time I get bitten by those crazy female anopheles mosquitoes that carry plasmodium, my body always sends me a signal that "malaria has arrived and be ready to embrace it and live with it for a while.

I am this kind of person that don't normally fall sick but this year has been quite unusual as I have fallen sick three times and all has been due to Malaria. The recent one happened to me on Saturday last week.

I was just in the sitting room while watching a movie on the Tv on Friday night. I am actually a very nonsense person when it comes to sleeping and once I close my eyes I can fall asleep within a minute . I was well aware our sitting room was home of mosquitoes and their working hours is mostly in the night. So as I was watching the movie I didn't realise when I slept off.

I slept with a black jacket and a long trousers even at that, this mosquitoes didn't hesitate to attack me like a thief in the night.

Now,I woke up the next morning and I was just feeling week at my neck region and I was feeling unsual without knowing that was the spot they attacked me from.

I didn't take notes of my body which was what affected me. I just felt maybe I slept on my neck and that was why it was making me feel pains. I just went on with my daily activities and didn't use any medication.

By Saturday night, my body just started showing some symptoms, my urine was yellowish than normal , I was kind of feeling week and running temperature but I still didn't go to buy any medicine from the pharmacy. I personally do not like using drugs.

Now, on Sunday morning the malaria had perfectly circulated my body and now it was worse , I had severe headaches, I couldn't walk properly, I had loss of appetite and even when I tried to eat it was bitter which was more painful to me as I couldn't eat the meals I could finish at first instance on a normal day.

I was just on my bed shouting and groining in pains because my head was extremely paining me such that I had to sleep severally to relive myself of the pain. There was no drugs at home for me to use and the pharmacy near our house don't usually open early since it was on Sunday.

At the end of the day, my sister help me buy the drugs and I was getting my better gradually. Even at that i wasnt fully well, and I missed work on Monday and Tuesday. I also missed out on the important things I should have learnt from attending the work.

The moral of my story is just simple.

The first thing is to always pay attention to your body and always make sure to go for regular check-ups and as soon as you notice symptoms of any disease or sickness and not wait until has weigh you down.

Lastly, stay away from the things or places you know you might attract or contract diseases , as they say "Prevention is better than cure"

Thanks for reading.

Sorry for the pains you always experience from malaria. You can get over it if you adhere to the appropriate precautions

Yeah and I know. The mosquitoes that are over here in Nigeria are actually much and they aren't even friendly at all. But I actually learnt my lesson and would obviously look for ways to prevent it from happening in the future
