Addressing the issue of inflation in Nigeria

The prices of goods and services in Nigeria has been nothing to write home about . You can buy a sachet of spaghetti at the store today and when you go to the same place the next day the price would have changed.

It is actually so annoying when you take an amount of money to purchase a good or service you normally buy for let's a thousand naira and on getting there it has added or increase by 200 naira.

The economic hardship in Nigeria is really hitting us hard and it has almost gotten to the point where people have stopped consuming some certain food due to the price of getting that particular product.

But as we all know there are some certain food such as rice that people can't live without and therefore do not have any other choice than to buy whether it’s price goes up or comes down.

I have always taught it was only the government that has a hand in making the prices of goods and services go up but overtime I have come to realise that even the retailers that are selling those goods are to be blamed as well.

Some people are just selfish. Recently I decided to go to a nearby shop to buy egg for my bread. On getting there, I said I wanted to buy just one egg and immediately she told me it was 250 naira. I was shocked and suprised because it was a small egg and the general price eggs were sold was 200naira. I didn’t even think twice before leaving, I just went somewhere else to get an even bigger egg for the same 200 naira.

Same thing with the bike riders, just because we are witnessing an increase in the price of petrol some of them make use of that as an advantage and use that as a way to make people pay more than the amount they are suppose to pay for bike fare. This is common in the place where I am staying currently once you are about to board a bike and you ask for the bike fare the first thing they would tell you is that they bought petrol at 1200 per litre which is usually true. But most of them normally use that as an excuse so you could pay more than usual which is not a right thing in my own path.

How are you holding up so far and how has life been for you the last few months??

Life for me in the last few months has been good, nothing bad has really happened. I am also going through this economic hardship as well but there have some ways I have been using to live past it.

My way has been simple and it just about going for the things that are within my budget and I know I could easily afford without going through stress or a tough time.

Also, I have had to learn to always approach and buy from those that I know are selling a particular product at a very cheap and affordable price . By doing this, I could even buy more and store some at home with a lower cost.

Finally, I really do hope the issue we are facing in the country gets resolved quickly because it has really not been making it easy for people to survive and make end's meet.

Thanks for reading.

Retailers ehh!!! I won’t even talk about them. Sometimes, it’s funny how someone just increases prices of things and then blames it on the government, or fuel prices. Meanwhile that’s not even how the real issue on the actual ground is.

That is the problem we are all facing, the price of goods and services changes with each passing day.
