🚚 Sand & Rocks πŸͺ¨ Our HBD-Funded Veranda Is In Progress πŸ—οΈ

SANDROCKS.JPG

A dump truck from Thmor Da full of roof tiles, sand, rocks, cement mix, and rebar arrived the other day, and now the veranda project is underway.

A Foggy Morning Commute πŸ›Ί

IMG_5966.JPG

Β  Β  Β My near daily 2x commute to Thmor Da to take the @kidsisters to school is a 50km roundtrip run, 100km+ by the time I've brought them back home on the second leg. It has been raining and foggy for a week, and the mountains can't be seen, almost feels like we living in a scene from the movie Willow, my favorite childhood flick.

Watch Your Toes 🩴

Β  Β  Β The moment the dumptruck arrived was pretty exciting, definitely the highlight of the day, and nearly $250 in materials, a big chunk of change for us. When the side gate drops down everyone must run to protect their toes, no steel-toed boots on this worksite.

Β  Β  Β I knew the dump truck would make a good GIF, but instead of shooting video I decided to hold steady and take several pics instead. The result is not too much different, although not as smooth as a GIF made from a video file. Just about as soon as the truck left, torrential rains brought work to a crawl for a few days.

The Veranda Legs 🏞️

IMG_5976.JPG

Β  Β  Β The footings for the veranda's legs have been made and soon they'll be pouring concrete. I'll be documenting the whole process and monetizing it on Hive, allowing further work to continue funded by HBD earnings. How beautiful that this blockchain allows me to fund this project by documenting it in real time.

Β  Β  Β I am assuming this new veranda and roof extension will be our new favorite spot when it's complete. We plan on adding an outdoor kitchen, a loft, and a ladder down to the river where we will make another mini hammock hut. We already know from Khmer tourists that this cabin was $40 a night in the past, even its unfinished state. We can only imagine a higher price on Airbnb once it's renovated and improved, and hopefully this will help us repay the loan.

Twinkies 🧬

Β  Β  Β This is my wife @sreypov with her older brother. Their facial features and build are very similar, even their personality. I asked them to take a picture together to see if you Hivers notice a striking resemblance? That's all I got for today folks, stay tuned...

they are very far from school. Is that the closest school to where you live?

Unfortunately it is the closest. Hopefully within the next year there will be a school opened much closer to our home.

Your wife is most definitely prettiet than her brother πŸ˜‰ it's great to see the work underway on your cabin. Does the real time documenting still appear on this community?

Haha, I will tell him you said that, he'll love it.

Does the real time documenting still appear on this community?

Can you clarify? I'm a little confused...

You said you will be documenting in real time. Does that footage appear on this community as a normal post?

Oh I get it now, sorry for the late reply. I just mean to say I'll be aiming to post fresh content as it happens. Sometimes I find myself posting photos and stories that are a week old because I like to have plenty of photos for posts in case of bad weather or being to busy to go out and document some stuff for Hive content.

It is good to see that you are making good progress in your house's construction. I agree with you that Hive is a great platform where we can earn additional income. My pension is much lower than my salary and so income from Hive is important to supplement my income. Any tips from you on what I can do to increase my earnings per post. Any tips highly appreciated.

Hive and related crypto defi stuff have been my family's only source of income for over three years now. At first it was tough because we needed to build up a savings for passive income, but we've now reached the point where we can withdraw a bit here and there and still keep our crypto portfolio growing. Tips on earning more per post.....hmmm....that is an age old question.

Well, I hate to admit a large part of it is luck. I spent a year getting a couple bucks per post before getting any attention. At the same time there are many Hivers who make $60+ from their first post and don't produce very good content, so it is a total mystery, and the accounts with big voting power do no commenting or engage with the community in any way, so it's hard to know if they're bots or not.

I think you're doing everything right, you're engaging, developing a loyal following. There is one thing that does kind of work, and many Hivers do it, although I don't. You can make a list of all the curators for the big upvoters like OCD and Curangel, etc.,, then engage with the posts of those curators, and your chances of landing a big upvote are greatly increased. Many Hivers do this but will never admit it.

I sort of gave up on the whales after I received no offers of ASEAN Hive support in any form, and somehow the community began to grow our grassroots Voting HP, and this still shocks me, even though our vote isn't as big, we've done it collectively as a community, a very SE Asian thing to do.

Thank you for your suggestions/advice. I am trying to engage these curators. But most of the time, my engagement has been in the ASEAN Hive Community

Wow! The morning looks really foggy but the view is very beautiful. I also hope that once the whole work is done, it will be able to play a role in repaying your loan. Good luck.

I am hoping so too, we can live here for a year without a renter if necessary, but the sooner the better so we can repay the loan.

Construction and improvement of your area are doing well. Your children's school is very far. Is this the closest school?

The closest school is 25km away, a bummer, but I guess this is the life we chose in the mountains. When the Thai border opens as an international crossing in September, I think this economic boom will cause another school to be opened closer to our home.

It's nice to see you and your family going and realizing some dreams of yours. Looking forward to how the project moves forward. I actually watch a ton of YT videos of people renovating and/or redoing (parts of) their homes, so it's nice to also see it happening here on Hive.

We would've loved to have started from scratch here with no buildings, but we have to compromise because they are already here and the land is beautiful, we had to take it. I can't wait to see one of the buildings finished and with a renter.

I know what you mean, because you'll have to make do and if you started from scratch you could've built something entirely to your liking. It's a great start though and though it's not the same you could built upon what's already there I suppose.

Generally, the features are quite similar. In the end, they're the production from the same factory πŸ˜‰

You and your Dad are epic, the facial expression! You and your boy as youngsters are a spitting image too, even with the right leg first. I wonder if you both are/were headed to the same destination?
