🧙‍♂️ It's Time To Break My Hive Dry Spell 🪄

kitty.png

It is hard to believe I haven't made a single blog post since March 30th despite it being one of my goals each day, but life has been a rollercoaster for several months.

🐱 My Loyal Feral Cat Companion 🐈‍⬛

eeere.png

A lot has happened in my life since March, but my little Chairwoman Meow has been a loyal companion and definitely helped me to maintain mental health through some trying times. I have been struggling on Hive for years to build a modest savings intended to fund the construction of my dream project, a brick lodge with space on the second floor for my family and I to live. Of course HIVE would dip to a super low value when I need it most, and this has led to the halt of construction on the lodge until I don't know when.

There have been several other things preventing me from having time to post as well. Running the ASEAN Hive Community is basically a full-time job despite it not providing enough for my family and I to survive on solely. In addition to this I have basically become a full-time house-husband, doing a large share of the housework, often cleaning, cooking, being an involved parent, etc., when I should be focused on earning an income for my family. Also, my wife's physical and mental health often prevent her from taking on a larger role within the family.

It is August now and yet these images are from late March and early April, but during my unwanted blog hiatus I continued taking photos as if I was going to use them within a Hive post. I hope to somehow bring you all up to present day content, but I first want to share the images and journey of my life over the last 4 months because it will provide me some therapy. Writing on Hive very much was/is a form of therapy for me, and especially so because I don't have any close friends at this stage in my life to bounce my ideas and feelings off of.

I was hoping my oldest daughter was going to step up to the plate and begin taking on some more responsibilities, but she just hasn't shown any strong motivation to help the family yet. I was raised in rural Indiana during the 1980s, and when from a very young age I cut grass, pulled weeds, cleaned gutters, shoveled snow, split wood, got the fireplace lit, and much more, but I have chosen to raise my daughters with the freedom to choose to help a lot or not, never physically punishing them and hardly ever grounding them.

This hasn't gone well for me, and even without time spent on my blog and earning the much-needed income, I am still awake each night into the wee hours of the morning doing ASEAN Hive stuff, struggling with our American visas and fighting with the US Embassy here in Cambodia. The pictures of this super clean moto are from when I nearly sold it because Srey-Yuu was all but refusing to ride it and take on the responsibility of getting herself to school.

reeryu.png

I only bought this modern bike for her because she was too ashamed to be seen on my old-school SuperCub 90, and also because it's 50cc, not fast enough to present the same dangers a typical 100cc+ bike brings, but strong enough to climb the mountain passes with it's 4-speed gearbox. Well, even this bike wasn't appreciated because it's not a Honda Wave or Dream, the fashionable bikes the "it" kids ride. Every now and then though a random Cambodian sees this bike and mentions they know it's a JDM import and not a Thai or Cambodian made of lesser quality.

Long story short, I didn't sell this bike because Srey-Yuu promised to actually start riding it, and so far this remains an on and off struggle. I will do my best to make some life changes and reclaim my blogging, I need the therapy and I also need the income.

I hope everything is well for you. Also, that SuperCub is lovely! I always thought it was written as SuperCup, okay, everyday I learn new things here 🙂

Thank you my friend, it's good to be back and active on my blog again. I think Honda likes to call these motos Cubs because they are small. There is even a Honda with smaller tires that is known as the Little Cub, but my daughter wasn't interested in them.

Keep going and hoping that things will get better very soon for you and your family.
That's a very cool SuperCub bike you have there.😎

Life is getting a little less hectic lately, thanks. I love my daughter's bike, sometimes I ride it instead of my old-fashioned SuperCub 90 3-Speed. Her bike has 4 gears and better shocks, so it's better for riding long distances.

Welcome back my friend, Yes I also noticed that. You didn't create any post, for the past days. By the way Chairwoman cat is still very adorable. 😊

I am excited to be back and blogging again, thanks. Writing certainly is a therapy for me, and luckily I have a feline assistant to guide me, haha.

That is strange to me that a teen wouldn't want to drive their own bike!

These are strange times we are living in. Image is everything, and if you don't have a Honda Dream, Wave, or one of the trendy auto 125s, you're not in the in-crowd. When I was a kid I would've done just about anything to have a moto and the freedom it provides at that age.

for sure. Maybe she is scared? I think that is a very reasonable fear that more people should have in this part of the world.

Fear, confidence, certainly factors, but it's good to have a certain level of fear on the roads here. I also think because motos are so common here, they are kind of like blue jeans in the USA. If you have the wrong brand or style, you're not in the in-crowd, and SuperCubs just aren't seen as cool by the youth because there are no commercials or social media push to buy them.

Keep up the good work and motivation my friend. Be positive and we have to accept that there are so many differences from the old and new society and it includes our lifestyles between us and our children. I hope that she will be getting motivated and see how you did for your family. I feel you and hope everything will be find. God bless!

Thanks for the thoughtful comment. Yes, I do try and keep in mind it's a very different culture that these modern kids are growing up in. Give thanks and blessings to you my friend.

Shame HIVE is down in value right now, even a big chunk of HP doesn't seem to command much voting power at the moment. It's a bummer because our construction project is on hold due to being HIVE-funded.

Welcome back my friend!
Looking forward to your attempt at playing catch up.

I really hope you find a way to struggle and suffer less and get more sleep.
I know Hive going up in value will help with that.

Sending a big hug

I still haven't figured out how I will write and achieve this, but that's the nice thing about Hive, I can learn on the fly. I somehow knew this is you despite the username, guess it's the profile pic and your writing style, haha. When I get some time I'll get updated with your and give a follow to your new main account.

We waited for your post and here it is. Thank you for all of your efforts in this community and for helping the members even if we our votes have the lowest value but you valued us. For us, you’re a valuable friend not because you’re powerful here, but you deserve all the love and support for being a good person. I wish that you’d get over from all of the trying times and God will bless you more and your family.

Awww, that is very kind of you. Well what can I say, I am often reminded of why ASEAN Hive brings me so much joy, it's the kind and thoughtful members like yourself. We all go through hard times in life, and this will pass just like other life challenges have. Give thanks and bless my friend.

The price of Hive is not valuable enough to be sold today, I also feel very tired because I should pick up and shuttle my two daughters. I should spend time on the street selling my products and post on Hive in the evening. I do not have ideas what to do but that what I should do. I hope Hive price will rise and all of us will get benefit from it.

Yes, it's tough to know what to do now. Because we are in the mountains I have little opportunity to earn an income from teaching or other work like translation that I could find in the bigger towns. I hope things change soon because our construction is funded by HIVE.

Thank you, and I am sorry for not being as active as I wished I could've been. There are many blogs I aim to get updated on, and yours is one of them. I always enjoy the stories of ridiculousness from across the border.

Chairwoman Meow is such a loyal co-worker, haha. My daughter is still not a big fan of her motorbike, but I like it and it's a perfect learner bike.

I didn't know the motorcycle you showed in this post. The design is also different from the usual motorcycles I see here in Europe

The general style is called "underbone motorcycles." There are some in Europe, but most modern ones are now Chinese knock-offs, but I have seen plenty Honda SuperCub 90s throughout Europe.
