Merry Christmas Everyone 🎁🎄🎄 (How I Spent My Day)

Hello everyone in the hive blockchain. I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the weather wherever you are. Welcome to my blog.

The long-awaited day is finally here. It’s Christmas! A day so many of us have been waiting for. A day to share gifts; tangible and untangle ones. A day to share love. A day to enjoy with family and friends. A day where you can eat all day and the only thing that can stop you from eating is a full stomach or a toothache.

There’s this happy feeling that comes with Christmas. I’m not even talking about the good (the most important thing though), but the atmosphere that comes with Christmas. Everyone is just always happy.

I woke up today feeling so excited. Besides today being Christmas, it is also one of my friend’s birthday. I have a very sensitive nose. And trust me when I say my nose is more sensitive on Christmas Day. The strong smell of meat woke me up. I jumped up from my bed immediately, as if I was summoned. Oh yes! The aroma summoned me and drew me closer. I went to the kitchen and I saw my mom and sisters cooking. My mom was frying the meat, while my sisters were cooking fried rice.

Jollof rice and fried rice is a well known African dish. Some of my Ghanaian friends like @rubilu claim they cook the best jollof rice, but deep down they know Nigerians are the best😂 (Just accept guys). I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a Christmas where we didn’t cook jollof rice or fried rice, and sometimes we even cook both. The food was tempting and I felt like eating it right there. But I know mum, I didn’t do any house chores, neither did I help them with the cooking, she’d definitely break my hands if I try anything silly.

I went straight to the bathroom, I brushed and had my bath. While bathing, all I thought about was how to steal the meat. “Operation steal one meat and run away”. I came out of the bathroom and I headed straight to the kitchen. I opened the pot, and I was disappointed to see that my mom and sisters were still there. I managed to click a few pictures. I thought about plans to make them leave the kitchen, but none of them worked.

My plans didn’t work. But I was surprised when my mom put a very big piece of meat on my food. I ate everything without remaining a single grain. My cousins and friends were also present and we all ate as a big family.

Christmas is not complete without family. Christmas is a festive period to spend with family, and I’m glad my family and I enjoyed ourselves today.

After eating we all prepared to go to church. It is like a tradition to share food in church. A lot of families brought different food to share with people. Most of them brought jollof rice and fried rice. Another episode activated! I have friends in church and most of them brought meat. I got more than 10 pieces of meat from different families. I couldn’t eat them all, so I shared them with my cousins.

After the service, I clicked some photos of Jesus' manger. The manger is nice; they decorated it well. Wooden images of Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the three men present in the manger. I find them nice and I give a big kudos to the artist that carved them out.

I also clicked some images of my church friends (I’ve known some of them since I was a kid)

I went home after that, and immediately I got home, I met a lot of people in our house. My cousins, aunt and uncle. I was so happy because I hadn’t seen some of them in years. My plan for Christmas was to visit an arcade and play VR games (something I’ve been longing to do), but there were lots of people there. There was no place to sit and all the games were occupied. I had to leave, although that made me a bit sad, it didn’t ruin my day. I know one day I’ll get to play a VR game.

I went back home to eat another round of food. Trust me I didn’t eat too much, I only ate meat, I wonder why my teeth are aching while writing this post.

Here in my street, Christmas brings people together. Memories are made. Sharing food with neighbors (not everyone, but those we are close with) helps strengthen the bond. We did not only receive from others, we also shared. That is what Christmas is all about. A TIME TO SHARE! The world is messed up already, and love is the only thing that can save it. Just a little portion of love can go a long way. You don’t need to give someone something big, the little things matter.

Thanks to my neoxian friends. They also made my day. Of course, the city never sleeps, and today was not different. We talked about a lot of things. They all made my day.

Presently, I’m in bed, writing this post and blaming myself for eating too much food😂.
