Walking Tour in Seoul: The National Folk Museum of Korea

Hello hive! My family and I were out of the country for six days, we went to Singapore and so the trip kept me busy. I wish to share with you here what happened in Singapore but I still have a lot of backlog. I don't think it is a good idea to start with a new travel series when there are still others that are pending. So, I am going to finish our 2019 South Korea DIY trip first. Last blog that I published was when we went on a Walking Tour in Seoul: Bukchon Hanok Village.

There's Gyeongbokgung Palace just walking distance from the village but since we came from the Changdeokgung Palace Complex, we just decided to check out the The National Folk Museum of Korea instead.

The National Folk Museum of Korea is located on the grounds of Gyeongbokgung Palace but there's also another museum around named the National Museum of Korea. They are both standing on the huge and vast grounds of the said palace. We need to do a lot of walking here again but the sad part was that the rain was harder this time compared to when we were at the hanok village so it discouraged us from really exploring the place. Also, this was not part of our itinerary so we have no expectation on what to see or what to do here but we just went as the admission was free!

Also the structure was interesting! But since it was raining, it was challenging to take a photo, and we have to be careful not to wet our cameras. At the entrance of the museum, we spotted low traditional houses with Korean characters pasted on their doors. There was no English information though so we just passed by it. I noticed the other structure with those Amakan roofs too and I guess this signifies the traditional houses of Korea back in time.

We went on the right from the entrance of the exhibition hall and here we saw houses which could make up a village already!

There are actually different exhibitions available such as the history of Koreans, the Korean way of life, the life cycle of Koreans, a traditional village: a street to the past, and a children's museum. Unfortunately, the whole day of walking made us tired but we still decided to check out the traditional village instead.

This village is just a replica of how the 19th-century villages looked like. It was at this time when the people of Korea were just introduced to the use of electricity. After taking photos, we just decided to go to another place. Our lunch was on the go, that's how we usually do it when traveling, we buy food from the convenience store like onigiri and then just buy water so we can survive without going away from the place that we visited.

But after going through the traditional village, we headed out and took a bus going to the next location, we went to Myeongdong Night Market again. Actually, we went around and my husband found some camera shops so we spent our entire afternoon there looking around and also exploring underground shops! It took a lot of our time but we were able to do a few shopping as well as buy cheap winter clothes!

Next, I will share with you our DIY adventure going to Nami Island and the Garden Of Morning Calm.

Korea is one of the countries in Asia that I really wanted to visit, the other one is Japan. It seems that the roads are wet, is it rainy season now in Korea?
