"Rebecca" - struggle with the shadow of the former/"Ребекка" - боротьба з тінню колишньої (En/Ua)

I want to tell you about my impression of Daphne Du Maurier's novel "Rebecca". This is probably the only time I liked the film better than the book. Why so, I will tell you in the post.
The book itself is very good. The blue-red colors of the cover are very bright and give a feeling of something unexpectedly spicy-romantic content inside, and the gate depicted on it seems to hint: "enter and you will reveal my secrets." On the scan, the flowers are no longer red, but white, which calms the imagination a little. I think that Rhododendrons are depicted here. In the novel itself, this plant is very often mentioned, with a special color of flowers of a bright red shade.
This novel is about love and betrayal, about the desire to be the main one in the heart of the chosen one, about how sometimes it is difficult to win the trust of others without losing your own "self". Daphne Du Maurier is a British writer who worked in the first half of the 20th century. And therefore "Rebecca" has all the signs of a classic English novel. The storyline flows slowly. There are descriptions of the estate, dinners and walks with neighbors and friends, which will "drive away with mothballs" a little, the spirit of good old England is felt.
The main character of the novel, Rebecca, is a young girl from a poor family who fascinates with her freshness, romantic outlook on life and desire to learn about the world. Her chosen one is Maximilian. He is a rich aristocrat older than her with his "skeletons in the closet."
Throughout the novel, the main character will try to understand what was so special about her lover's late wife, why everyone around her admired her.I'll go ahead and say that all of Rebecca's misadventures are due to the banal inability of some men to openly express their feelings.
In the novel, two different characters are intertwined: youth, enthusiasm, openness and ardent desire to be loved and restraint, balance, probably inner insecurity and life fatigue.
"Rebecca" is the author's most famous novel. It was screened 11 times. I watched the latest version filmed by Netflix in 2020. Usually I always like the printed version of the story better than the filmed version. But not in this case. In the book, the main character does not have the sharpness of character that she shows in the movie. As for Maximilian, in the novel he is a little callous, even rude. In the screen version, these shortcomings are compensated by the extraordinary charisma of the actor (Armie Hammer).
Be that as it may, I liked the novel "Rebecca", even very much.

Хочу розповісти Вам про своє враження від роману Дафни Дю Мор’є «Ребекка». Це, мабуть, єдиний випадок, коли екранізація мені сподобалася більше ніж книга. Чому так, розповім у дописі.
Сама книга дуже гарна. Синьо-червоні кольори обкладинки дуже яскраві та навівають відчуття чогось неочікувано гостро-романтичного вмісту в середині, а брама, зображена на ній, наче натякає: «ввійди і ти розкриєш мої таємниці». На розгортці квіти вже не червоні, а білі, що трішечки заспокоює уяву. Думаю, що тут зображені Рододендрони. В самому романі дуже часто згадується ця рослина, з особливим кольором квітів яскраво-червоного відтінку.
Цей роман про кохання і зраду, про бажання бути головною у серці обранця, про те, як інколи важко завоювати довіру оточуючих, не загубивши власне «я». Дафна Дю Мор’є – британська письменниця, яка творила у першій половині 20 століття. А тому «Ребекка» має всі ознаки класичного англійського роману. Сюжетні лінія протікає неспішно. Тут є описи маєтку, обіди та прогулянки з сусідами і друзями, які трішечки «відгонять нафталіном», відчувається дух старої доброї Англії.
Головна героїня роману Ребекка – юна дівчина з небагатої сім’ї, яка заворожує своєю свіжістю, романтичним поглядом на життя та прагненням пізнати світ. Її обранець – Максиміліан. Він багатий аристократ, старший за неї зі своїми «скелетами у шафі».
Протягом всього роману головна героїня намагатиметься зрозуміти що ж такого особливого було у покійної дружини її коханого, чому нею захоплювалися всі оточуючі. Забіжу на перед, сказавши, що всі поневіряння Ребекки через банальне невміння деяких чоловіків відверто сказати про свої почуття.
У романі переплітаються два різних характери: молодість, ентузіазм, відкритість та палке бажання бути коханою і стриманість, виваженість, мабуть внутрішня невпевненість та життєва втома.
«Ребекка» - найвідоміший роман авторки. Він був екранізований 11 разів. Я дивилася останню версію, зняту кінокомпанією Netflix у 2020 році. Зазвичай друкована версія історії мені завжди подобається більше ніж фільмована. Але не в цьому випадку. У книзі головна героїня не має тої гостроти характеру, яку вона проявляє в кіно. Щодо Максиміліана, то в романові він трішечки черствий, навіть грубий. В екранізованій версії ці його недоліки компенсуються надзвичайною харизмою актора ( Армі Гаммер).
Та як би там не було, роман «Ребекка» мені сподобався, навіть дуже.
