Pero en aquellos nebulosos tiempos medievales, cuando las circunstancias imperantes hacían que buena parte de España permaneciera bajo el dominio musulmán y los caminos fueran, ciertamente, inseguros, este viejo monasterio, no sólo ofrecía santuario y refugio, sino que, además, aliviaba las duras jornadas de tan difícil tránsito, ofreciendo, a todos aquellos que se aventuraban a atravesar estos impenetrables bosques, guía, reposo y hospital en el que reponerse, como otro metafórico puerto en el que, una vez relajadas y atendidas sus necesidades fundamentales, poder continuar con los pormenores de su vital aventura trascendental.
