[ENG-SPN] Memories of a sustainable life / Recuerdos de una vida sostenible
It is paradoxical, but we live in a world trapped in inconsequential consumption and little more than enslaved, blind to the indiscriminate waste of resources, which, when the time comes, will become that metaphorical sword of Damocles that hangs, irremediably, over the heads of absurdly irresponsible and poorly educated societies, which, in reality, accumulate things that they do not need and that often die of oblivion in the bottom of drawers and closets or are thrown directly into the trash, still retaining the same packaging in which they were carefully manufactured. The same thing happens, unfortunately, with something as essential and basic as food.
Therefore, still in the towns, in those blessed rural environments, sometimes the vision of those old houses, whose beams seem to sway dangerously in a grotesque dance against time, also provide us with extraordinary visions of times that we disdain as past, but they continue to offer us a persistent lesson in sustainability, which, deep down, should make us think. We have one of the best examples in this Castilian single-family house, provided, as was the custom, with its own oven. An oven where bread was kneaded, either with traditional wheat or corn flour, the latter more common, in the rural environments of Northern Spain, which satisfied the basic needs of the family and whose surpluses were exchanged with neighbors for others. essential goods, without the need for luxuries and other banalities that are making the world a place where, in a short time, resources will be the closest thing to a myth impossible to catch.

Thanks for mentioning the sword of Damocles
I’d learn more about it
Also, the building is looking very strong because of the stones
It is a very old house, typical of the small Castilian villages in central Spain. A single-family home, equipped not only with its bread oven, but also with stables where the livestock and farming tools can be sheltered. With its wooden frames and stone filling, preserving heat in winter and cool in summer.
What an amazing picture. Your photography never disappoint
Thank-you very much
