[ENG-SPN] Gothic design / Gótico de diseño

Gothic, in addition to being an architectural style that represented an innovative break with previous and obsolete styles, such as the popular Romanesque style, which, for many centuries, constituted, so to speak, the flagship of sacred architecture in the West until well into the 12th century, it was also a skillful and willful style, when it came to the design of auxiliary elements.

One of the most notable examples is, without a doubt, the wonderful pulpit located in the nave of the Aragonese cathedral of Tarazona, located a short distance from that mythical and legendary mountain, Moncayo. Designed in 1506 by the carver, Pedro de Cervellera, it has a fantastic octagonal platform, which, supported by the unusual figures of three sphinxes, is accessed by a beautiful and elaborate spiral staircase, constituting one of the most relevant and by default, most elegant in the entire sacred precinct.

El Gótico, además de ser un estilo arquitectónico que supuso una innovadora ruptura con estilos anteriores y obsoletos, como el popular estilo Románico, que, durante no pocos siglos constituyó, por decirlo de alguna manera, el buque insignia de la arquitectura sacra en Occidente hasta bien entrado el siglo XII, fue también un estilo hábil y voluntarioso, en cuando al diseño de elementos auxiliares se refiere.

Uno de los ejemplos más notables, lo constituye, sin duda alguna, el maravilloso púlpito que se localiza en la nave de la catedral aragonesa de Tarazona, situada a escasa distancia de ese monte mítico y legendario, que es el Moncayo. Diseñado en el año 1506 por el entallador, Pedro de Cervellera, cuenta con una fantástica plataforma octogonal, a la que, sostenida por las figuras inusuales de tres esfinges, se accede mediante una hermosa y elaborada escalera de caracol, constituyendo una de las piezas más relevantes y por defecto, más elegantes de todo el recinto sagrado.
