[ENG-SPN] Exodus and travel: a reflection / Éxodos y viajes: una reflexión

Could it be that when I pass near a station, especially in this time of pre-Christmas atmosphere, something is released in that metaphorical jail of dreams frozen in time, which are my memories and without knowing exactly why, the melancholic haunts me ghost of the exoduses of the past, my only wish being to return home for Christmas.

Something certainly unusual, if we take into account that I have always thought - as I feel that the poems of Cavafis, Pessoa and even those of that French libertine poet named François Villon basically recommend - that home, in reality, is not neither near nor far, but exactly where the heart takes you.

For this reason, when I see the incessant traffic of travelers wandering around the vicinity of a station, I am invaded by a sudden feeling of curiosity about the thoughts that animate them and if, like me, they usually travel with their dreams and desires well tied in the bottom of your suitcase.

Será que todavía, cuando paso cerca de una estación, sobre todo, en esta época de ambiente prenavideño, algo se libera en esa metafórica cárcel de sueños congelados en el tiempo, que son mis recuerdos y sin saber exactamente por qué, me acecha el melancólico fantasma de los éxodos del pasado, siendo mi único deseo el regreso al hogar por Navidad.

Algo ciertamente insólito, si tenemos en cuenta, que siempre he pensado -como presiento que en el fondo recomiendan las poesías de Cavafis, de Pessoa e incluso las de aquel poeta libertino francés, llamado François Villon- que el hogar, en realidad, no está ni cerca ni lejos, sino exactamente donde el corazón te lleve.

Por eso, cuando veo el incesante tráfico de viajeros deambular por las cercanías de una estación, me invade un repentino sentimiento de curiosidad sobre los pensamientos que les animan y si, como me ocurre a mí, suelen viajar con sus sueños y deseos bien amarrados en el fondo de su maleta.
