[ENG-SPN] Cultural Heritage: Romanesque and Gastronomy / Patrimonio Cultural: Románico y Gastronomía

Memory, in addition to being that metaphorical urban guard that regulates the constant traffic of memories, is, furthermore, the best time machine that exists, because in it, not only those events that occurred in the past are recorded, but also those others that they occur in the present and form the foundations of the future, defining paths, regardless of whether these, in the beginning, may be on the sea, as a renowned Spanish poet asserted, whose bones destiny wanted to fertilize a strange land.

Showing off such a fantastic resource, vital, furthermore, for the work of that archivist of experiences, which, deep down, lives in every writer, I recover part of those happy times in which I began to savor, not only the pleasures and concerns additions to any self-respecting voyage of discovery, but also those others derived from that joyful union between two ambivalent passions: our Cultural Heritage, Romanesque, in this case, and our traditional gastronomy, which, no matter how simple it may seem at first, the demanding palate of a figure of good eating, such as the one Rabelais presented to us, with his giant Pantagruel, would not make her look down on her.

La Memoria, además de ser ese metafórico guardia urbano que regula el tráfico constante de recuerdos, es, además, la mejor máquina del tiempo que existe, pues en ella, no sólo recalan esos sucesos acaecidos en el pasado, sino también, aquellos otros que acaecen en el presente y van formando los cimientos del futuro, definiendo caminos, sin importar si éstos, en un principio, pueden ser sobre la mar, como aseveraba un reconocido poeta español, cuyos huesos quiso el destino que fueran a abonar una tierra extraña.

Haciendo gala de tan fantástico recurso, vital, además, para el trabajo de ese archivero de vivencias, que, en el fondo, habita en todo escritor, recupero parte de esos felices tiempos en los que comencé a saborear, no sólo los placeres e inquietudes añadidos a todo viaje de descubrimiento que se precie, sino también, aquellos otros derivados de esa gozosa unión entre dos pasiones ambivalentes: nuestro Patrimonio Cultural, románico, en éste caso y nuestra gastronomía tradicional, que, por muy sencilla que parezca en un principio, no la haría ningún desprecio, el exigente paladar de una figura del buen comer, como es la que nos presentó Rabelais, con su gigante Pantagruel.
