Although the majority of these grandiose temples suffered, over time, the ingratitude of obsolescence, the contempt of being considered, on many occasions, old stones whose original symbolism was forgotten with the passage of new generations, however, there still remain, and in the most remote places, worthy testimonies, which, due to their beauty, their curiosity, their solidity and above all, due to the large number of associated mysteries, exert a powerful fascination, so intense, one could say, that, on many occasions, take us to times of glory and uncertainty.

Its appearance also reminds us, in addition, of other functions added to many temples, whether Romanesque or not, the architecture that conceived them. And the fact is that, in addition to being sanctuaries, dignified and geometrically built to make communication with God possible, they also served, given the imperious circumstances of those turbulent times, as fortresses in which to take shelter and resist, to the extent possible, the attacks. from any invader, regardless of the faith he or she may profess.

Si bien, la mayoría de estos grandiosos templos, sufrieron, a lo largo del tiempo, la ingratitud de la obsolescencia, el desprecio de ser considerados, en muchas ocasiones, piedras viejas cuyo primigenio simbolismo se fue olvidando con el paso de las nuevas generaciones, quedan, no obstante, todavía y en los lugares más recónditos, dignos testimonios, que, por su belleza, su curiosidad, su solidez y sobre todo, por la gran cantidad de misterios asociados, ejercen una poderosa fascinación, tan intensa, podría decirse, que, en no pocas ocasiones, nos trasladan a épocas de gloria e incertidumbre.

Su aspecto, además, nos recuerda, por añadidura, otras de las funciones añadida a muchos templos, fuera o no, románica, la arquitectura que los concibiera. Y es que, además de ser santuarios, dignamente y geométricamente levantados para hacer posible la comunicación con Dios, servían, además, dadas las imperiosas circunstancias de aquellas convulsas épocas, como fortalezas donde guarecerse y resistir, en la medida de lo posible, los ataques de cualquier invasor, independientemente de la fe que éste pudiera profesar.
