[ENG-SPN] Christmas prophets / Profetas de la Navidad
The countdown has already begun and a new solstice, in this case, marked by the figure of John, the most cryptic of the Evangelists and the black sheep that differs from the rest of the canonical messianic events, is about to open the door to a new cycle, which in everyone's mind supposes the hope of a world, if not better, at least not worse than the one that is about to leave the year that is gone.
There is still a month to go, it is true, but it is also true, that since the beginning of November we have already been feeling that special atmosphere, where the modern prophets -the Town Hall, with the installation of lighting throughout the city; the large markets, such as the one in the Plaza Mayor, with the shelves of their stores already open and, above all, El Corte Inglés, with the unbeatable decoration of its windows- are already announcing the future of joy and waste that lies ahead.
A future that, until the end of the year, will be governed by the optimism to which all the media within the reach of advertising invite us, where the desires of the heart will weigh more than the rationality of the head, inducing us, as every year, to put ourselves in the shoes of the biblical Jonah and let ourselves be voluntarily swallowed by the insatiable whale of consumerism, who knows, if dreaming that nothing is more important than today, taking into account the uncertainties and challenges that await us tomorrow.
La cuenta atrás ya ha comenzado y un nuevo solsticio, en este caso, marcado por la figura de Juan, el más críptico de los Evangelistas y el garbanzo negro que difiere del resto de canónicos acontecimientos mesiánicos, está a punto de abrir la puerta a un nuevo ciclo, que en la mente de todos suponga la esperanza de un mundo, si no mejor, al menos no peor que el que está a punto de dejar el año que se va.
Falta todavía un mes, es cierto, pero también es cierto, que desde comienzos de noviembre ya venimos sintiendo ese ambiente tan especial, donde los modernos profetas -el Ayuntamiento, con la instalación del alumbrado por toda la ciudad; los grandes mercadillos, como el de la Plaza Mayor, ya abiertas las estanterías de sus tiendas y sobre todo, El Corte Inglés, con la insuperable decoración de sus escaparates- ya nos vienen anunciando el futuro de alegría y derroche que se avecina.
Un futuro, que, hasta la despedida del año, estará gobernado por el optimismo al que nos invitan todos los medios al alcance de la publicidad, donde pesarán más los deseos del corazón que la racionalidad de la cabeza, induciéndonos, como todos los años, a ponernos en la piel del bíblico Jonás y dejarnos engullir voluntariamente por la insaciable ballena del consumismo, quién sabe, si soñando que nada hay más importante que el hoy, teniendo en cuenta las incertidumbres y retos que nos esperan mañana.
